Does anyone else get completely constipated from zofran?? I rarely take zofran, and it's still so painful. My doctor didn't tell me any side effects when he prescribed it. So I first took a pill a few weeks ago. I took one pill (4 mg I believe) for two days straight. And it did definitely relieve my nausea/vomiting. However, I then didn't have a bowel movement for at least 5 days, and when I finally did, it was so so so so painful.
I then stopped taking it, but was feeling pretty badly last week again, so on Saturday, I took another zofran pill. But this time, I got a stool softener (Colace) and took one of those pills right after the zofran. I then took a Colace pill every day for the next 3 days ( so 4 pills total) and I finally just had a bowel movement yesterday. While not as painful as the first time, it was still very painful. All that from just one zofran pill!
Does anyone else take anything with the zofran that works better? My doctors list of meds says that I can also take Metamucil and Milk of Magnesia. Do these work better? I threw up a couple times today and desperately wanted to take a zofran, but I'm so nervous. I think I'd rather be nauseous!
Are you drinking enough water? Also try drinking fruit juice and eating fruit. Those things help me. If that doesn't work, I would try cereals with lots of fiber. Good luck!

I have found this is a general side effect of pregnancy for me I did take zofran a couple of times, but I have noticed that if I "go" twice a week now, I am lucky. I already have a really good fiber intake (Crohn's disease), drink prune juice, take fiber supplments in my drinks and still nada! Good luck
I do drink a ton of water. I could probably eat more fruit (eat about 2 a day right now) and more fiber. It's hard when most days I still don't feel like eating anything!
I don't know if it's because I'm still so newly pregnant, but I do not have this problem...I'm the opposite
I feel like I have had upset tummy all week.
As to your question, I always like the idea of trying more natural alternatives to a pill in situations like this, so I'd try metamucil if it were me.
But if that didn't help, I'd say eff it and take the Zofran, and try to up your fiber and water to counter-act. Poor you.
I'm usually the opposite too--until I take a zofran. Then, once the zofran and side effects are out of my system, I go back to normal and seriously have multiple bowel movements a day (sorry, TMI again!) I'm hoping the morning sickness stops in the next week or so and I don't have to worry about this anymore.
I hope it stops for you soon too---the m/s that is. And if you're good with water intake and stuff, and you don't feel like eating at all, I get how tough it must be to find a solution.
And btw, it is a comfort to know that I'm not weird over here with my lack of constipation lol. So thanks for that.
