Yeah, it gets all watery when you defrost it. I've still used it in baked goods, but wouldn't eat it straight with that texture.
Yogurt is fine to eat for up to 7 days after the sell-by date. Actually as long as it has a normal smell and texture, you could push it out even a little further. You'll know when yogurt is bad.

I freezeyogurt and eat it as if it were frozen yogurt, but I've never done it with Greek yogur. Your kids could try it like that. Other wise, I think it would be really watery.

I do it with regular yogurt all the time, but haven't tried with greek yogurt. As others said, it's fine long past the date; I often keep mine up to a month after. Just mix it because it sometimes separates, and that changes the taste. After mixing, the texture becomes really smooth and creamy, too.
