I'm a little confused about how they don't have property taxes? I'm sure there's a loophole somewhere...
The Citadel is evolving as a planned community where residents are bound together by:
Patriotism Pride in American Exceptionalism Our proud history of Liberty as defined by our Founding Fathers, and Physical preparedness to survive and prevail in the face of natural catastrophes — such as Hurricanes Sandy or Katrina — or man-made catastrophes such as a power grid failure or economic collapse. The Citadel is not your typical planned community where the developer's objective is selling cookie-cutter homes at the highest possible profit-margin.
The Citadel is not profit-driven. The Citadel is Liberty-driven: specifically Thomas Jefferson's Rightful Liberty.
Marxists, Socialists, Liberals and Establishment Republicans will likely find that life in our community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles.
DESCRIPTION: The Citadel Community will house between 3,500 and 7,000 patriotic American families who agree that being prepared for the emergencies of life and being proficient with the American icon of Liberty — the Rifle — are prudent measures. There will be no HOA. There will be no recycling police and no local ordinance enforcers from City Hall.
LOCATION: We are in the process of selecting the ideal location among the beautiful mountains of Idaho in the American Redoubt.
PROJECT LAUNCH: We plan to purchase land for the Citadel in 2013 and break ground soon after. Even before unveiling our national advertising campaign, more than 200 families reserved space within our community!
WHY APPLY FOR RESIDENCE: If living in an affordable, safe, well-prepared, patriotic community where your children will be educated in school rather than indoctrinated, consider the Citadel. Approved applicants receive a Lifetime Lease (paid off in only 30 years). No credit check. No background check. Zero down payment. Zero interest. Zero property taxes.
HOW TO APPLY: Simply read through the information here on our website. If you believe the Citadel is ideal for you and your family, complete our application. More of your questions may be answered at our blog.
HOUSING DETAILS: All homes will be built of poured concrete for exceptional strength and durability. Your home will be built to your specs (details available at this website) with utilities stubbed to the interior. You select the facade for the exterior of your home. You are responsible for completing the interior of your home as you wish. You may choose to do the work yourself, or hire contractors. But every single detail, from paint to tiles to counters, is your choice.
If Liberty has been missing from the life of your family, consider the Citadel for your new home.
Living here would be my own personal version of hell. However, there are a number of MM-ers that I would happily form a commune with.
I guess those that would enjoy a Citadel lifestyle probably feel as unsettled about my hippy, bleeding-heart-liberal ass as I do about their gun-centric value system. My commune's museum would probably have a lot more to do with human rights than weapons.

My property taxes go to my city for services the city provides. My guess is they are looking for land in the boonies and trying to set up their own "city." Not sure what they plan to do if their utilities in the street break. Maybe have everyone chip in? But that's not so different from an HOA or property taxes.

I like that they are going to mint their own money and apparently create America's version of Hitler Youth.
We are considering a boarding school to educate the next generation of patriotic American children. We intend to put together one of the finest, most comprehensive libraries in the nation. And, we also plan to build a complete museum dedicated to our Founding Fathers and the ideals they espoused. Additionally, we plan on forming our own bank that will issue Citadel coins in silver and gold.
lol. This is a joke, right? Although I'm a-ok with attracting all the super gun nuts, militia crazies, tea partiers, birthers, and paranoid conspiracy theorists to one secluded area. Maybe after they all arrive a big dome can drop over the compound and the rest of us can get back to the things that really matter. lol.
So odd...it kind of sounds like they read about Platos "perfect justice city"...but stopped too early because it just doesn't work...and also, I doubt they would have read Plato.
As if Northern Idaho could become less appealing...
How long until someone does something on their property that's really ugly and offensive and the other residents realize that they have no recourse. No one to complain to, no housing codes, right I'm sure it will all be settled amicably.
