okay yall, got AF today, so starting a new cycle. no big deal, still early in the process. cycle 2 officially TTC, cycle 4 off BC.
however, I will start working night shift next week for 3 days a week (not always 3 days in a row, although that is preferable). I was reading on FF, and they had a question regarding shift work. obviously, I'd have to take my temp after I've had the most sleep and make notes about working night shift, blah blah blah, but it will mean a lot of open circles. I will HAVE to check my CM daily, and the video that accompanied the question recommended OPKs too. should I spring for the OPKs, or see if temping and CM alone will be able to pinpoint O for me?
I haven't. this cycle was clear, but the one before it was anovulatory. the one before that had a temp shift too. I have irregular cycles too, always have.
can't commit to EOD sex because of the shift work, heh. I just ordered some wondfos, thanks yall. so when I get them, I pee in a cup, wait five minutes, stick the strip in the pee for 5 minutes, then look for a line? is that correct?

Correct! I usually dip mine right away, though (and they work fine). You want the line as dark or most preferable darker than the control. If its dark but not darkER, you are building up to it.

I would use OPKs. If my sleep was off even by just 1 hour, it really messed up my chart. I never had a huge temp rise on ovulatory cycles either. Usually only .3 or .4. There is a bbt temp adjuster if you google it and it helped.
