Good morning everyone! I am about to take off for work but wanted to quickly say hello and ask what you have planned for today. I am working in the morning, then I need to work on the dissertation. I have to see my coachee this afternoon and have a new years reception of my party at night.
QOTD: what's your favorite local beverage/food? (probably done already)
Morning. Busy day at work. Chilling at home this evening. I'm going to have to come in and do a few hours work tomorrow as well by the looks of things...
QOTD: I know it's not unique to here but there is a particular fudge maker that I love. Really creamy fudge and great flavours. That's all I can think of right now...
Good morning! Slower day here today. I'm writing from McDonalds since they're the only place that has free wi-fi and I'm not ashamed of parking myself here for two hours while I wait to go to work. I'm happy I get out at 7 today.. SLEEP WOOHOO! DH picked me up 2 hours late yesterday since he had to give a drum class to the mayor of the town where he works. I wish we had two cars.
QOTD: Spanish omelette with local tuna and mayo on top. Good lord. Well, it's very hard to pick a favorite because SO much is SO good. However, tortilla is always the first thing I want when I get back.

I´ve had to scrap my plans. DH called and begged me to stay home today as the roads are icy. So I called the nanny and told her we wouldnt be coming as well as cancelling my physio appt. today :-( But it´s not worth risking having an accident just to get out. And DD is still sleeping thanks to jetlag, though I should probably wake her soon or it will bite me in the rear again when it´s time to go to sleep.
QOTD: I really enjoy a nice cup of mulled wine when it´s cold outside, and the German Glühwein is awesome. Food, not so much, but the Glühwein with some fried doughnut holes is pretty yummy.
Afternoon! I'm having a busy day at the office trying to get some website and e-mail stuff out of the way. It's fun, I get to send everyone really lame and stupid test e-mails, because they keep wanting to change shit, which then needs to be tested. hehe... I'm 5!
QOTD: This time of year, stamppot with rookworst, no questions asked (it's basically mashed potatoes with veggies (sauerkraut, curly kale and andive being my favorite versions, traditionally served with smoked sausage (closest US resemblance I've ever thought up being kielbasa) and jus and bacon. It's super hearthy and great for cold dreary winter days.

Morning/Afternoon! DH and I had meetings with 2 banks in the last couple of days to decide how best to save for a house, so today I've been taking care of a lot of bureaucratic stuff related to that. DD is usually great while I'm on the phone (I know that's strange, but thankfully true), but today she decided while I was talking to DH she would be quiet and play like usual but when I needed to make the business calls to the banks and agencies, she would whine and scream. Grr.
QOTD: Unlike glitterfart, I love German food. :-) I grew up in the Midwest, though, so it's pretty familiar. One of my favorite dishes is cheese spaetzle. Yum.

I had a fun 2 days. Yesterday I went to the A.P. fake market and blew through 500 rmb on 2 pairs of earrings and 3 wallets. But 500rm is only about $75 so I didn't feel too bad. Today I went to the other fake market in Shanghai, Han City, which I've decided is definitely better. I didn't bring more than 20rmb. Sellers hated me for "just looking", but whatever. One was so desperate to sell to me that I got a pair of cute earrings for 17rmb (less than $3). I'm thinking of going back this weekend for a MK watch, some Marc Jacobs nylon cosmetic bags, and some Uggs for me and some for my little niece. All fake of course.
QOTD: Definitely sweet and sour dishes done slightly Sichuan style - spicy, but not so spicy I am crying eating them (yep, that's happened).
Morning! Regular music day for me, nothing special. I have to get started on my taxes and schedule house cleaning for tomorrow morning. I also ordered a monogrammed bag from C Wonder (love that store!) that I'm hoping will be ready soon!!

Hi there! I'm going to be enjoying sushi and a movie with the SO. Haven't decided what we'll see yet. Probably something on the Oscars list.
QOTD: I love most food in the DC area so there's no way to list everything. A few faves? Chipotle, of course, also this fantastic Russian place. I'm a big fan of the gourmet Russian food, Baltika beer and vodka cocktails. I also love the guacamole at a certain Mexican place. The mind-blowing pies at a hipster "pie bar" in the cool part of town can't be missed either.
In London, I freaking love Nando's - DC has it too but I have to have it in London whenever I visit. Also, the many excellent ciders at various pubs.
When visiting Croatia, I love the skewers of grilled meat, like various deliciously spiced kebabs with Serbian kajmak (like a rich unpasteurized steak butter). I love the local beers and coffee.
In Egypt, my mind was blown by the desserts. I also really enjoyed the hibiscus tea.

It's late here but wanted to check in! It's been a busy day!
Met some friends for brunch, then did some shopping, and then met a friend for dinner. Tomorrow, pedicures & sushi!!
QOTD: Lemon Mint is my favorite local beverage, and I love hummous, labneh, tabbouleh, falafel, and all the fresh pita/breads! Umm Ali & rice pudding are my favorite desserts! Lots of good options.
