I drive an older 4 wheel drive Mazda minivan. Replacement parts are pretty expensive, but it really hasn't needed too many repairs. It handles well in the snow. Horrible gas mileage.

We have a 2010 CX-9 and I love it. It's had no problems in the 3 years we've owned it. It does have horrible gas mileage though. We do mostly city driving and average about 15 miles per gallon.

I have a 2013 CX5. I got it in May. It has the Skyactiv engine. It's okay, but there are some quirky things that bother me. The drivers side window vibrates as does the hood when driving at highway speeds. Plus the headlights are different than what my 02 Accord had. There's a distinct shadow line and when driving down a hill in the dark, you can't see far in front of you at all. It's like they don't light up the whole area ahead. I posted on the Mazda 247 forums and apparently it's normal with headlights now a days.
I suggest looking at the Mazda 247 forums for the vehicle you're interested in before you buy. I'm glad I did a 3 year lease so I can get rid of it.

Do you mean the MAzda 5. We are buying one as a starter minivian this year. Tell me more!
my brother has a used CX-9, they love it (they have 3 kids 9, 4, and 2) and we have a CX-5 and absolutely LOVE it. We got it back in NOV. I like it a lot better than the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CRV.
But I also had to have something that was a manual transmission and this was one of very few that fit the bill of affordable, fuel efficient and had some pep to it.
I'll be using a new vehicle for mostly city driving and we live in a snowy climate and I'm tired of not having AWD. I like that the CX-9 seats 7 (we don't need to seat 7 now, but I'll own the vehicle for 10 years and eventually we'll have a 2nd kid and take their friends places), has AWD and a 2011 can be purchased for under $28,000. It has more cargo space than the 2011 Toyota Highlander hybrid I really want, which comes in over budget at $33,000ish.
I REALLY want a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder with all the bells and whistles including a HEATED STEERING WHEEL! Sadly, it's $40,000+...
I have a 2008 CX-9, purchased in 2009 so it's been three years now (wow, four in April???) and I still love it. With the back seats down there is a huge amount of cargo space. The middle seats slide forward so it's easy for those in the back to climb out (although kiddo likes to lower half of the third row and climb out the back.) We have headrest monitors for the tvs to keep the kids occupied. I only had one short one living with me (Kiddo was 4) at the time I bought it but her sister lived with her mom and it became an issue with needing the sixth seat when we drove up to visit and were the "people haulers" with the people-hauler. It also drives and handles very well for a vehicle its size, more like a car than a truck (and it's definitely truck-sized; comps are with Expeditions, Suburbans and the like.)
The worst issue I have with mine is that the mileage sucks. In town right now I'm getting 13-14 mpg but I also should check the tire pressure to see if it's affecting my mileage, and most of my driving is in-town. When I'm commuting I get in the 20s.
I have a 2002 Mazda Tribute and LOVE that car so freaking much! I bought it brand new and have babied it for the past 11 years. I bought the additional warranty and have spent very little on the car, beyond the routine maintenance (oil changes, batteries, tires). I recently had to do a big $$ repair, but it's 11 years old, so that's to be expected. I'm at about 120,000 miles right now and we're hoping to get it to at least 150,000 before we have to start thinking about buying a new car.

I don't have a SUV, but I do have a 3, so can comment on the brand. I LOVE it. I feel like it has a LOT more features for your $$, and still lasts as long as the Honda's and Toyota's. Mine doesn't have the skyactive, so the gas mileage could be better, but a Yaris before and it only got about 3MPG more, and now I can actually go somewhere, so I think the extra pep is worth the compromise in gas mileage...

We have a 2013 CX-5. We have had it for about 10 months and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! It gets great gas mileage (about 32 and we do A LOT of stop and go driving) and it has all the features we wanted for a reasonable price. This is the first Mazda we have owned but I really like it. The CX5 has new engine technology that gives it low gas mileage. You only have to get the oil changed every 5-7k miles instead of 3k. Plus for the mid grade model we got tons of features: Backup cam blue tooth power seats blind spot indicator push button start etc.
Haha.. I sound like the dealer. LOL I guess we just really love our car. It has all the space and cargo room we will ever need. Definitely drive it though because the new technology does take some getting use to.

It's a 98 MPV 4x4. It only gets about 12 mpg. It drives really smooth and even handles well in the snow. The back seat folds up nice. It didn't have as much cargo space as other ones we looked at, but I could still fit a travel system stroller in the back. It's kind of ugly. The newer models are much prettier.
I have the 2010 CX9 Grand Touring and love love love it. I didn't want an SUV that felt high and I love the cargo/seat spacing. It's been a major win for us.
