Not a big deal. Just make sure his birth date and SSN are right.
My birthday is 7/2 and somehow it got switched to 2/7 with our insurance and THAT was a PITA to straighten out. My mom (works for my optometrist) was the first to pick up on it when I went for my eye exam and it took maybe 6 months of calls, sending copies of my birth certificate, etc. for it to be changed.
Just call them to change it and they will send you a new, corrected one. Might want to make sure your HR department knows in case they were the ones who made the mistake.
Make them change it. If it's wrong in their system, a claim for him may get rejected for not matching a covered person since the dr office will have his name spelled correctly. Ditto checking with HR too.
Shoot a quick email to your HR department. Their records may have caused the problem, and they may easily be able to order new cards for you.
It's H's HR. They don't have an e-mail. Phone calls usually have a 45 min wait. (according to H). He works for a fairly large university.
H is going to go down to their office on Monday. It shows correct on his HR online so his fear is that the state messed it up in their system. Which makes it a nightmare.

Mine is misspelled. I had to call the insurance company and get it changed in their system. I then lost the replacement card, but I have never had an issue with getting treatment or insurance covering treatment using a card with my last name misspelled.

OMG, this happened to me with my birth date. They put it as correct month, correct year, one day off...like 18 instead of 19. I had to make SO many phone calls and jump through SO many hoops to get THEIR DAMN TYPO fixed. It was so annoying!
When I got married, I added H to my insurance and changed my last name to his. They somehow updated the last name for me correctly but mispelled it for him. It was a pain to get fixed (multiple phone calls, emails, etc) but nothing got denied while I was waiting...

my insurance card reads TRG although my license says TR .. i have yet to encounter any problems with it. also, my fn is routinely spelled wrong, they forget the 'e' b/t the c and y, and i have yet to run into any problems. i wouldn't worry.

I'd call and ask, but it shouldn't be a problem. Our insurance put down DD #2's middle initial as "S" when it's "F", and her card does have the error printed on it. When I called to correct it as soon as the card arrived they said not to worry. She's six now and they have never denied a claim because of it (and this is a kid who saw more than her fair share of docs as a toddler due to a hemangioma on her face and issues with her legs, so big bucks on specialist consultations). Her birthdate and SSN are correct in their records so as long as the docs use the right subscriber ID it goes through.
Do you have access to a personal account online with the insurance company? I do with Aetna. Usually you can go to their website and register using your social security number (policy holder).
Aetna has a feature where you can print temp cards, and request new cards. If your company has this option, I would check and see what 1) the name is listed as online, if correct request/print new cards and 2) if there's an easy way to click and submit a question via your account.
Typically communication via your account is faster than using the generic email address available on the insurance company's homepage.
Doesnt' matter, most people dont even look at that. No one spells DH's lastname correct, so they just use my lastname. Never had an issue last 6 years.

You guys need me in your HR department. You call and tell me your name is wrong. I call BCBS and tell them to fix it. They do. I call you back 15 minutes later to tell you it's fixed. Then I hang up and cuss a lot because WTF are they screwing up a quarter of my 2500+ employees!
