I think the painting itself is fine- the problem is he picked her w/ a "pinched" look, that I just don't think is good, at all. I wished they had picked one where she is genuinely smiling.

I haven't seen anyone say anything redeeming about this yet... so I'll say I think he did a good job on her hair. lol.

Their comments sound really, really rehearsed, like when people say 'oh isn't that child just precious' about ugly babies.

To clarify, I mean, the end parts where it's curly and looks soft, not the apparently gray roots she needs to touch up.

I think the gray roots really complement the numerous under-eye bags and all-over-the-place eyeshadow.

They made her look considerably older than she is. She is also much prettier. Maybe she was having a tired day or something. I would fire that portrait painter.

I think she looks older and her face looks like she is trying to politely eat a lemon. I wish they had used one of her smiling.

The undereye bags are a LITTLE true to life (she looked GORGEOUS on her wedding day, but let's be honest... there was some baggage there). But the rest of it... NO! Off with that artist's head!

The royals don't strike me as the type to have big ol' smiles on their faces for official portraits. They are supposed to convey seriousness, benevolence, and introspection.

But, yeah, dude could have left out the undereye bags and wrinkles.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I knew having a portrait artist in my pocket was going to come in handy one of these days. The royal portraitist owed me a favor, so when I told him to paint Kate Middleton with baggy eyes — one bag bigger than the other — and a smug smirk, he really didn’t have a choice.
