A little background, because I'm mainly a lurker . .
31 years old, married a year and a half. We're in the "not trying, but not NOT trying camp" which produced a chemical pregnancy in July 2012. I was terrified when I found out I was preganant (we live in a HCOL area and even though we're both gainfully employed, full time day care here is going to be more than our mortgage payment) and I was surprised about how devestated I was when the baby didn't stick.
So we took a couple of month off (back to condoms) but in Nov/Dec we pulled the goalie again.
Haven't seen AF since late November (not unusual, I have long cycles) but in the past week I was CONVINCED that I'm KU again. Last time this happened I had 4 or 5 BFN using the cheaper CVS tests but then I just a digital and it said Pregnant.
So same thing this time around, breast soreness and water/fruit cravings but BFN with cheapo tests. So I took a digital test today and was shocked it's a BFN.
I'm sure it's not one of those nutty hysterical pregnancys since we're still scared out of our minds at the thought of actually taking the plunge. But WTH? I feel pregnant, should be about 7 weeks along but negative tests?
Long story short- is there such a thing as a false negative?? Or am I just sick with baby fever?
Yes, I feel like you pretty much each month; convinced I am KU but BFNs. I think it is baby fever.
The best advice somebody ever gave me in these boards is that if you are not pregnant enough to render a BFP you are not pregnant enough to have symptoms. What your feeling is likely PMS.
All that said, you should talk to your doctor about your cycles. Highly irregular cycles can make TTC much more difficult.
False negatives are very rare during pregnancy. If you've taken more than one and they've all been negative, you're pretty much guaranteed to be not pregnant.
Early signs of pregnancy include tiredness, headache, breast tenderness, bloating, cramping, and spotting. These are pretty much the exact same signs of PMS.
Nobody here can tell you if you are or aren't pregnant. But, if your HPTs are telling you you're not, you're not. If you need more confirmation, call your doctor. I think you should do that anyways, as I think as six week cycle (if you haven't had a period since November...I am guessing here, but should be in the right ballpark) is way too long, and will likely create problems for you when/if you do start trying to track your cycles more seriously.
I am in the exact same boat so I know how you feel. I haven't had a period since November (currently on CD47). My cycles have regularly been about 37-40 days in the past. I have no AF and every hpt is negative. I plan on waiting another week, testing, and then calling my doctor. At this point, I'm more worried about no AF (and maybe no ovulation).
