So I've been looking for some nightstands (not necessarily matching) for our guest room downstairs. My problem is I don't want to spend a whole lot in there- so $100 per nightstand just wasn't going to cut it for me. A few weeks ago at Target, I spotted these nightstands on clearance for 54 bucks, and still, I was a little hesitant to hand over $100 for the pair. I passed on them, and regretted it a bit because that was pretty cheap compared to a lot of places. Fast forward to today- I spot them at 39.98 each. Not bad! I text a pic to DH to get the OK, and in the meantime notice that one of the drawers on them is coming off (easy fix!), but I figured I could get an extra 10% off. I found a guy to ask about an extra discount, and he told me I could take an ADDITIONAL 50%. So, one for 40 bucks, the other for $20. Um, SOLD!! But it gets even better. I get to the register and tell the cashier that dude said I could have 50% off since one was damaged. As I was eyeballing the screen, I noticed that they rang up at $23 each- before the extra discount. So she entered the discount and i got the damaged one for (wait for it!) 11 DOLLARS!! So i got them both for just 35 dollars!! THey were originally 80 a piece. I was so excited and the whole way home I was like "my D&R girls are going to be so excited!", lol, especially after our mutual agreement that Target has sucked lately.
I almost got these! The ones left at mine seemed a little unstable so I passed. Great deal!
Yeah, mine aren't unstable, but I wouldn't call them heavy-duty either. I definitely wouldn't buy these for our master, you know? I have such a hard time paying full price for something like this (lightweight, not real wood) so I almost peed my pants when I realized the deal I was getting.
I have last year's black version and you're right..it's not superior quality or anything, but honestly it hasn't been half bad. It was in our FR for awhile, got shipped to the guest room and now is on our room without issue.

Ohh LOVE! I bought my kitchen table from Target like 4 years ago and it was on clearance, and the last one left so we had to take it off the sales floor, and there were a few minor things wrong with it. They wouldn't give us a discount...bastards. Congrats on a great score!
That's an awesome deal! Will you leave them as is or refinish them?
I'm going to leave them as is. Even though one of the drawer fronts are slightly lighter, I like the tone of the wood- it's kind of a rich walnut-mahogany stain. When it comes to the great GBCN debate of leaving wood stained vs painting it white, I'm usually Team stain.
