I accepted the night auditor position at a really nice local hotel. 11p-7a on Fri and Sat nights.
Fridays will be tough. But I'll be making money. Enough to feel safe.
And as long as I get the audit part done (which they said takes only 45 friggin minutes) I just babysit the front desk, make sure no drunk people swim in the pool, and read or watch movies on their computer. Which they told me to do. lol. They said the guy who's leaving reads like 50 books a month.
It sucks that you'll be losing sleep, but the extra cash will be worth it. Hopefully this will get you through until you get a better paying job out east.

You will be the most important shift of the entire week. No hotel manager wants to cover weekend audit because the auditor called in. :-) I expected weekend audit to clean a little and as long as they weren't watching porn in their downtime (which I did fire a person for), I was happy. Congrats on the new job! PS- one morning I came in to find all of the pool furniture in the pool and heard a story of how the night auditor almost got punched by a drilling crew on a little booze for trying to stop a fight from happening. Glad you're working at the nicest hotel in town. And working at a hotel you meet the most interesting people.
Training has been just fine. I'm tired, but nothing terrible.
I'm nervous about my training for next week, though, since I'm having guests at my house almost every day for the next few weeks. I probably won't be able to spend more than a few hours a day with my dad while he's here.
Thanks for the tips and the good vibes The pay rate is also more than expected, so good news!
