Sorry, I should clarify! Person I am meeting works on 3rd ave between 39 and 40th, so ideally walkable from there. And this is just a two person business lunch. He told me to pick the place "anywhere in midtown" and its too much pressure!
lol no problem. If you said west side, i could have given you a ton. The Wharf, Galway Hooker & Third & Long are the only places i know on the East side.

here is a nicer italian place in the grand central lobby: Cipriani Dolci There is a very nice sweedish place on 38th and Park: www.scandinaviahouse.org/cafe.html Mexican: Sinigual: 42nd and 3rd

Hahaha -- I'd advise against those They're definitely way more bar than restaurant.

Actually steakhouses would be fine. I did a business lunch at the capital Grille near the chrysler building once. The fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate....never did get to finish the meeting!

in my experience steak houses in NYC are going to be on the expensive side.
