WELLLLL, he lives 2.5 hours away so I'm going to his place this coming weekend (it's a three day weekend). We've been burning up the cell phone minutes and last night we talked on the phone for THREE and a half hours!
He's so sweet, he told me he'd gone shopping in anticipation of me coming and wants to cook for me. Then he said he went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to get a shower curtain and yankee candles to make his house more cozy when I'm there. He's kind of nervous about what I'll think of his place because "it's a dusty old ranch house". I told him I was used to ranch houses and it would be fine. Since he's a contractor he's been saving up to do a huge remodel on it.
I'm definitely ecstatic to see him again and don't know how I'll make it to Friday. I'm really glad it's a three day weekend though because I'll get to spend lots of time getting to know him. My two besties volunteered to care for P this weekend. I was in shock because it was SUCH a nice gesture. They said "we haven't seen you THIS excited in I don't know how long, it's totally fine. GO and have fun!"

Awe, I love this!! When G and I started dating we were long distance...1100 miles. After the 2 dates we had when I was travelling for work, I came to see him and stayed for 4 days with him. Yes, it's fast. I get that. But you're a smart cookie and have a good head on your shoulders. Just make sure you have a check in buddy so people know you're safe and know where you are, and enjoy your time!!

Wow that's a long distance but where there's a will there's a way!
It is fast, for sure, but I am confident in my ability to assess a situation and know that I have a good head on my shoulders. I do appreciate everyone's concern and know it's out of love. I don't take offense to it, at the same time I am using my best judgement, as I always have an will always continue to do.

So how did that work out? Are you still together?
Is every relationship that doesn't last a waste? This really strikes a wrong chord with me. Just because they're not still together (if they're not) doesn't mean that it was a mistake.
This reminds me of when SO and I first started dating. At least 2.5 hours away isn't so bad. In all honesty, starting out LD kept us from going to fast (moving in together and all that). We did a lot of long weekends since we had to fly to see each other. We have some great memories of our LD time.
Good luck!
Thanks! I was thinking that too. And 3.5 hour long phone calls definitely make you get to know someone because it's all you have until you see eachother again.
SERIOUSLY!!! Luckily I'm busy at work and I have a few meetings this week after work so hopefully it'll make the time go by more quickly. Last night he was like "only four more days but who's counting?"
We're going to dinner Friday night and then driving the thirty minutes to his house (he's meeting me in the nearest town). It's probably going to be a bit of torture through dinner because I'll just want dessert, if ya know what I mean
