If I do it for you today, will you do it for me tomorrow? DS #2 and I have to be at the hospital at 6:30 tomorrow morning--and it's 30 minutes from our house.

So, DH mentioned last night that he thinks we may want to look into getting a dog as a buddy for our corgi. Jack's settling into being a great house/family dog but we fear he gets lonely/despondent during the day while we're gone.
My concern right now is this: 1) the cat, she is infection free and we're doing the dissolution diet for her kidney and bladder stones but she's still peeing (not sure if she's passing stones or if it's just become behavioral). 2) He wants a younger dog, so there will be a bit less strife while they determine where each stand pack-wise. But, I don't have a job which allows me to come home and let a puppy out on lunch everyday.
I wouldn't mind another dog, but I really want to make sure we deal with #1 before we do anything else. I'm calling the kitty's vet today as I am not sure what else we can do. I am afraid she's peeing because she's passing a stone (or trying to) but we're out of pain meds. Her boxes are clean, she's got food/water, and I've been spending time with her every day so I don't think it's any of those things. My Dad pointed out that she's old(er), she could just be starting her decline but I don't know.
I know absolutely nothing about cats. Does it seem like she's in pain? Is she acting out in any other ways? Shredding things? Definitely take her to the vet. I would probably hold off on dog #2 until I had the cat thing under control and until the kids could be responsible for the dog because I am a fun hater that way.
No microwave? Sandwiches it is. Exciting! lol
eta- I do know that for dog #1 to be the alpha, the age of dog #2 isn't the determining factor. Take your dog to meet the other dog and see how they are together. One should submit to the other. Otherwise, they will battle. All this after the cat situation is cleared up, of course.

She seemed like she was in a bit of pain last week, but her pee was still slightly rusty. It's clear now and she doesn't seem to be in any pain right now, so I am wondering if there was something else lurking and now that we're dealing with the stones the background problem is coming to the fore. We cut back her portions because she was marked as pre-diabetic, she doesn't seem to mind that but she does seem less substantial than ever. But she's almost 10 so it could be anything. I want to see what the vet has to say before we make any moves.
Yeah, it's time for cast #7 for DS #2. We're hoping this will be the last one though, his back looks fantastic. We won't know until after we go to radiology though.

I'm tired today too. Coffee's not helping either. I think I've drank so much coffee over the years that I'm pretty much immune to it... I need some protien and B vitamins I think... or a nap. Naps are good.
