My anniversary is Monday. 8 years married, poor guy, and almost 19 years together. My granddaughters live with me and DH. We don't necessarily celebrate with kids in tow but we'll be without them this weekend on a fluke of luck.
Ex and his wife volunteered to take the girls for a "weekend" from Friday after school until Sunday after church (just a regular visit that happens to be on our anni weekend which didn't occur to me when she suggested the date) so we will be without kids Friday night after I drop them off (I'm in Bothell/Mill Creek). We are very seldom kids-free. I had kids when we met, then we were kid-free for a couple years and now we have the 2 grands. I couldn't talk ex and his wife into keeping them an additional overnight (there is no school on Monday) or even just later Sunday because they "have plans." Yeah, I'd like to have plans too but I'm raising your grandkids so I'll not have the luxury for another ten years or so. Throw me a bone so we can have a weekend to do a weekend thing and not have to check in at 11:00 on a Friday or leave at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. I'd LOVE to be able to go out to the peninsula for a weekend getaway.
So, Friday night after a long day at work through Sunday at 9:00 a.m. so we can pick up the kids at noon - what would you do?
So far, I have the Book of Mormon is playing at the Paramount. Tickets are $700 for two. Worth it? I'm also thinking hotel downtown Friday night, do a Pike Place Market/downtown thing and head home Saturday night to pick up the kids on Sunday.
Or we could do an overnight at one of the casino hotels, drink and lose a lot of money?
We can do an overnight (or late late check-in on Friday and leave early Sunday but that's two days hotel room) in a resort on the peninsula (Alderbrook, Ludlow or Quinault maybe) but have to leave early Sunday to get the girls. As in veeeeeery early, to catch ferries or whatever. There's a ferry to Whidbey from Pt. Townsend and we can walk on to get the girls there. Maybe spend another night with the girls on the peninsula since there's no school Monday?
If you could give me some ideas, por favor, I'd appreciate it. I'm drawing blanks.
Where are the seats for BOM? IMO the play was awesome, but not worth $700. Not even close. I think the floor seats were only $200 face value. We sat 3rd mez and those were only $45.
Salish is actually at the top of my list if I can coordinate times for child pick-up.
Yeah, the seats are floor level, center or side, double-digit rows (like HH and KK). We're used to Paramount Club seating but did floor at Cats with GD1 when she first lived with us and had a blast.
Ouch, just priced Salish and the only rooms available on Saturday start at $980 after taxes. We could do Friday night I suppose. It would be about $600 cheaper for the room.

I like this idea! But don't know enough about the peninsula to suggest activities.
I thought Port Ludlow was really romantic when we visited and I can't imagine it being that expensive this time of year. We were there for a meeting and lunch (coming from Bainbridge) so I didn't see the rooms but the grounds were really nice. Really quiet, boats to see, cold outside but cozy inside and very relaxing.
