I am thinking about changing up my hair. I've had the same style pretty much for like 15 years. I had loooong hair through HS (most the way down my back) and almost always wore it in a ponytail or bun. About halfway through college (like 2006-ish?) I chopped length off, to just below my shoulders. It is slightly longer now, but still medium length. I basically always have it back or up. I never wear it down.
I want to cut it short - like between my chin and shoulders. I haven't ever had it that short. I've never not had it long enough to pull back. Here are my reservations.
1. It's probably damaged from always being back/up and won't look goo. (Although it may be good for it in the long run.)
2. I don't know if it will look good on me.
3. I have a center part and no bangs. I don't know if this will even allow me to have bangs. I don't want normal across my forehead bangs. Side bangs I think I would be ok with - but I haven't had bangs of any kinds since I was like 7.
Here's what I'm thinking:

Here's what I look like now - best shot I could find of my face shape: (I'm the brunette)
It looks like you have a thin and oval face, so you could definitely pull off the first cut. I think it would look really cute! I like the second one as well, but think I prefer the first one since you have the face shape for the bangs.
I love them both. I actually got that second cut awhile back and loved it. If I could figure out how to post a pic I would show it. I think it would be great and the second is (or was for me) long enough for a ponytail.

I have an angled bob right now that lands just above my shoulders in the front, but is shorter in the back. If being able to pull your hair back is a concern, I'd recommend something like this. With the front being longer, I can actually still pull it back into a small ponytail.

I like the first cut with the bangs and think it could be done with a middle part. If you go just a little bit longer than Nicole Richie or keep it at least her length, you'd still be able to wear it back and not have to worry as much about the daily styling that would be involved. It would be a big change, but I think the bangs would really showcase your amazing eyes like it does for Nicole Richie and show off your face. I think the second cut hides too many features that are great on you. If you do still want to do ponytails, I'd get some of Sephora's Hair Ribbons. They don't tear your hair and if you have thicker hair they leave less of a dent than normal hair ties. Here's what I'm talking about:

I have a chin-length angled bob and I can get it back into a short low ponytail. I think that either cut would be really pretty on you. The nice thing about side-swept bangs is that they are easy to pin back if they get in your way. You can do sideswept bangs with a center or slightly off-center part.
I really want to do it! I looked at that cut the last time I got my hair cut.....and ended up just getting a trim. I've always been like this! I just need to remember that it is just hair and will grow out!
I think I am going to do it! I will post pics after - I will probably make an appointment today!
