Hahaaha! It looks like their is a hair band on the end of the attachment that he pushes on to her hair to make it into the ponytail.
I used to beg for my dad to brush my hair over my mom doing it. I had hair down to my butt. I preferred him b/c he would pretty much just brush the top layer and leave a rat's nest beneath it.
Sadly, I think DH is better at doing DD's pigtails than I am.
H showed me this the other day. I told him it's too bad DD would freak the eff out. He always tells me "I'm not allowed to die because I have no idea how to dress two girls and worry about their hair" (to which I say go to J&J and gapkids and just buy every single pre-made outfit and buy all)

I had to watch this like three times before I figured out exactly what was going on.
My girls would freak out so badly if DH ever tried this. He already brushes harder than I do -- I think maybe it comes from never having hair long enough to tangle, you don't get how much it can hurt to brush them out.
It's a miracle if we can get through hair-brushing without DD2 crying anyway. I think she just dislikes the sensation even when it doesn't hurt.
I need to show this to DH - he can't do a pony tail for anything, although I don't think DDs would let him anywhere near them with the vacuum, lol! That's awesome.

This is DD2 - there is no morning without tears shed regardless if I brush her hair or if DH does.

I loved when my Dad did my hair, he had no clue what he was doing so my sisters and I rocked messy side pony tails. I also loved at the end of the day when he would take our hair down and massage our heads.
But in reality, my BFF's husband has done their daughters hair since she was born. BFF can't do it ever and he is really good at it! Pony tails, pig tails, braids even! He grew up with an older sister so maybe she forced hair time?

Doing Lucy's hair is the main reason dh has forbidden me to ever die or run away, lol. He stresses so much when he has to get Lucy ready for school. Poor kid!
I remember my Dad brushing my hair. He would always stop and yell "there's rats in here!" and whack the top I my head with the back I the hairbrush. I loved it. Lol.
Dh tries so hard to put headbands and clips on DD. It's so funny because he concentrates so much and yet fails so badly.
Confession: i rarely do my girls' hair. Sophia gets pig tails maybe once a month, and I never brush her hair (she has like 10 hair). I brush Anna's hair most mornings and nights, although I didn't this morning. And she wants it down, so I don't fight with her and let it be. If I died tomorrow, their hair would just look the way it always does, lol
My dad never attempted my hair. I think he brushed it out a few times, but there was no actual "doing" of the hair.
My mom broke a brush in my hair once. The handle snapped right off. She's awesome at French braids though. I need to get her to show me how to do that sometime (for myself).

That is cute. I was sincerely shocked when I saw how bad H is at doing C's hair. Like a chimp trying to do a rubics cube. He's so dexterous and clever at other tasks, its like he gets bodysnatched at the sight of long strands and accessories.

I don't always brush Cecile's hair either. Its got natural ringlets on the ends which form fine even when she sleeps on it wet. So some nights she goes straight from the tub to the pillow - no brushing. She is also one who cries and creates more tangles by trying to shield her head.
