I love red lipstick. I always wear a neutral lip liner under everything. I also wear a lip primer to hold the color better. You might need to try a few shades until you find the best for you.
Red bleeds for me so I definitely wear liner. I wear UD lip primer, Two-Faced red liner and a Sephora matte long wear lipstick. I also like the red Lippy gloss instead of the Sephora lipstick sometimes.
I do wear it everywhere though not as much too work.
I've been wearing it every day. A little goes a long way for work, so I basically put 3 dabs on my lips and rub. But for night, I will full on wear it.
Just throwing another choice out there, you could try one from NARS. I am a huge fan of their lipsticks. They range from matte to sheer, moisturizing formulas. They have a couple of reds that are to-die-for but you really do need to try each of them on. Their most popular is probably Jungle Red.

I like red, but not really frequently. It's too dramatic for everyday, and it's kind of high-maintenance. I don't have a naturally well-defined lipline, so I put it on with a brush. I don't want to paint on such precise lips everyday. For everyday I choose a natural-colored gloss.
I think Chanel makes the best reds. I wear "Flamboyante" with a red lipliner, but not every day. Most days I do a nude lip with more intense eye makeup, especially if I'm wearing glasses instead of contacts.

This sounds really familiar.....I could have written this. Red lipstick and lots of mascara is a special occasion look for me too. The red that works best on me is Bobbi Brown's scarlet which is a blue-toned intense red.
revlon also has a few red shades in their lip butters, so you get a red look without SO much impact...i love red velvet.
I recently discovered the makeup dupe site through Pinterest and they said Revlon had a red that was identical to Ruby Woo. But they must have discontinued it because I cannot find it.
I love red lipstick! I don't wear it at work because it wouldn't be appropriate given the population I work with. There are lots of awesome reds out there. Some of my favorites are from Chanel, Besame cosmetics (esp. Red Velvet), Make Up For Ever, and Clinique (Angel Red). I'm sure I have more reds than that, though.

Will try and take a pic in a bit. It's a good color on me. I find it hard to get a good red. I'm an autumn with hazel eyes (have an amber hue), but blue undertones. Very weird combo that's hard to match.

Definitely PIP! That looks like a pretty color red. I'm inspired to rock some red lipstick tomorrow now.

I suck. It wore off before I remembered to take a picture, and it didn't look good w/o fresh liner (which I didn't have with me). Now I'm at home and ... not photographable. Maybe tomorrow if I wear it again!!
