I am now about 30 miles west/northwest of Boston in the greater Lowell area. It's a big change. I've been in or near Boston since 1993 so living in the burbs is a huge difference. I moved in the summer, left the job I'd been at for the past 10 years to work closer to home. I'll tell you a little about myself since I know you're all at the edge of your seats lol: I'm 42 (43 this month), married 6 years and have a 3 1/2 year old son and two cats and work in healthcare. That about covers it. What's everyone up to tonight?
Fuddyduddy, I am happy. I love our new house and neighborhood. The job is just completely different from the last job but I do like it. I went from working in an ambulatory physical therapy clinic in a Boston hospital to an inpatient long term acute care facility so just completely different.

I'm glad you are happy. I work part time at an outpatient physical therapy clinic and one of the therapists there mentioned how different inpatient and outpatient settings are.

Practically! I have to DRIVE to the liquor store now! Talk about culture shock?! Where's the Winter Hill Liquor Mart when I really need them?
I hear you on this. I moved from Waltham, where I could walk to everything, to the same area you live in now. I live on the opposite side of route 3 from the grocery store. I have to drive about 2 miles to get there, it feels like I am driving to NH sometimes. My DH says I will get used to it, but it has been almost 3 years and I still hate not being able to walk places!

I'm in Waltham now and I love it. I moved from Brighton, and this totally feels like the burbs to me. It's nice to have stuff within walking distance, though.
Welcome! I grew up in the burbs and overall love it, but I do miss my college years living downtown. Especially as we get more and more lazy about driving into the city (even though it is only 25 min drive!). I was a little surprised at how much my H likes it since he grew up in Brookline. I'm glad he's happy as we moved closer to where I grew up!
