But what is BB cream for? I have so many friends that love it, but can't tell me whats it for.
Is it another type of concealer? Is it in replace or anything? All I use right now is a moisturizer, and then some loose powder bronzer stuff. What will BB cream do for me?
I use moisturizer under my BB cream because my skin is really dry.
The BB has moisturizer, sunscreen and pigment. It's like a thicker tinted moisturizer. I like it because it supplies the level of coverage I need, has sunscreen and doesn't dry my skin out further.
I too am overwhelmed by BB cream. I want to purchase some though. Does it look makeup-y? I'm also a non-foundation wearer but I just want something to even out the skin tone.
Superduper, did you use powder with the Garnier one? I've had a few people recommend it as a cheaper cream to start with that is pretty good. I'm worried about the grease factor.
My skin is really dry, so I haven't noticed the Garnier being "greasy" at all. And I have really sensitive skin and it's worked out well for me so far (about 3 months in, I'd say?).
I have sensitive skin too so I worry about the Garnier one. I use a lot of Clinique products with no issue but I'm not sure if I want to shell out 40 bucks. Cheapwad over here.
Mommymonster, I use Neutrogena Healthy Skin Moisturizer. It has seriously helped my skin. It also has a anti-wrinkle properties to it. The reason I want to add a BB cream is I have a few mild scars from acne. Otherwise, I'm happy with this moisturizer. It's only about 15 bucks too.
I love my BB cream. It has just enough coverage to even out my skin without looking like I'm wearing make-up. It just looks like I have really great skin. I use a light moisturizer underneath. I use smashbox BB cream. It's about $30, and has lasted about 5 months.

I use BB cream with a dab of liquid foundation every day. It evens out my skin tone and is noticeably lighter than regular foundation.
Definitely not a good stand-alone moisturizer, though. I feel like I've finally gotten to a point where my skin is getting enough moisturizer -- this winter has been so dry, I've had to really step things and I'm using multiple lotions/creams. I use the oil cleansing method, but even with that, I've started using facial cream at night and an overall heavier moisturizer. I tend to do one of Olay in the morning for the SPF, then a layer of Curel b/c the Olay by itself just isn't enough and I was still getting flaky patches. Then I do the BB cream mixture as my daily makeup base.
It's a PITA, but my skin finally looks and feels good.
I am cheap, and love Cetaphil and Spectro moisturizers. I have oily sensitive skin. I use a cream to power BB over it, but I think whe I'm done with my tube I'll buy regular BB.
I think BB cream is overpriced. I went back to my regular tinted moisturizer. Either way, you still need a regular moisturizer. I'd go with Oil of Olay. Any of the creams, the one in the maroon container is especially good. That will give you moisture. If you still want color then shop for a foundation/BB cream/tinted moisturizer that you like best, but don't just to BB cream. It is not a miracle product, it is just another form of foundation.
I bought the Dr. Jart detoxifying one. It is hard to get because apparently it is sooo awesome. I tried to stick with it, but it just broke me out like everything else. The look wasn't as miraculous as it claimed. I think I just don't like face makeup.

I just bought the Rimmel BB cream. I really like it. I was previously using their 25 Hour Foundation, but wanted something not quite as heavy for daily wear. It doesn't make my face shiny, evens my skin tone, and overall looks great.
If it's a dry skin issue, I would opt for a better moisturizer over BB cream.
I love Paula's Choice products (www.paulaschoice.com). They have a section where you can "shop by concern," so just go there and look at moisturizers for dry skin. Check out the reviews and see what they have that would be good for your skin.
