We found ours because there was a for rent sign out front. It looked cute, so we called the number on the sign. They got 60+ inquiries having the sign out for 2 days and we ended up getting it.
We have a rental and use both a property management company in that town and also I list it on hotpads.com. Hotpads.com is actually how we found our rental in our new city.

We had a realtor take us around for a day and show us rentals. I know it was a low commission for him, but it was 1 day, and he was with us for about 4 hours total, including drawing up paperwork and faxing the application to the other listing agent.
I've found houses by calling property management companies on my own, setting up showings, having them flake out, etc. Never again. And I know lots of people use Craigslist for this, I'm extremely wary of Craigslist in general. Realtor all the way.

Thank you for all of the suggestions I appreciate them all. I am worried about finding a house on craigslist because I don't trust it 100% for something like this so I think I will check out the sites recommended and then contact a few management companies/ realtors.
We found our current rental on zillow under the Houses for Rent option. We called the property management company included on the listing, set up a showing and signed the lease 2 days later. For our last rental house, we called a local realtor who hooked us up with a great house that fit within our neighborhood/price preferences.
