We're both usually home by 5:15, so it's fairly easy to get dinner for us and the kid ready by 6-6:30. Also, like wannabe said, if it's not by 6:30, the rest of our night is totally screwed
6ish. Before H got started working out regularly we'd eat between 5 and 5:30ish. He grew up with dinner on the table by 5 pm, and he is required to eat lunch at work by 11 every day. We're normally both home by 4:30, then about 45 minutes to an hour to work out, then cook & eat dinner.

Usually 6:30, DH gets home at 6, Depending on what we're having I finish up cooking while he changes and plays with DD then we eat. That let's us get DD down at 8 and we have the evening to ourselves.
Once a week we eat at around 8 after DD is in bed so we can have an adult meal without supervising DD and have uninterrupted adult conversation.

Usually around 5:30, but no later than 630 if I can help it. My kids become monsters when they're hungry (even if they just had a snack ), so I try to have it ready shortly after L gets home.
