I applied before we left, and then reapplied three times, yet still managed to get super sunburned. Apparently, living close to the equator really is no joke. Anyway, what are your best sunburn remedies?

I've heard that baking soda can help relieve the burn. You can either take a cool bath adding baking soda to the water or soak a washcloth in baking soda water and use as a cool compress. Also, like others have said, moisturize like crazy, with a gentle moisturizer and drink plenty of water to combat dehydration.
There's a ton of pins talking about bags of tea on a sunburn and many say it's life-changing.
I've also heard a vinegar bath takes the heat out.
Aspirin
tea compresses or a lukewarm tea bath. Cool compress if you don't have tea.

I never thought about how being closer to the equator would make a difference when it comes to sun. I mean, it makes complete sense, I just never considered it before.

desitin (or generic diaper rash cream) works like a charm for me every time. aloe has never been helpful for me. if you can get desitin, i like the creamy variety because it's not greasy.

I got the worst sunburn of my life on a visit to Chile - I applied SPF 50 throughout the day, but apparently being as pale as I am and being directly under the hole in the ozone was not a good match.
H's grandmother and aunts put lettuce leaves and sliced cucumber straight out of the fridge all over my skin, and it felt heavenly. Especially the cucumbers.
