I dyed my hair this weekend, and no one has noticed at work. It's not like I just updated, either. I put TONS of purple highlights and lowlights in it just for fun.
I love brightly colored hair!
I wish I could get a good picture of it, but for some reason, it just doesn't photograph well.
I'm feeling annoyed at being called out as a "remember that poster..." and pumped for details about my life not because of caring about me as a regular who's been on here for years, but as an interesting story to rubberneck.
Thinking I might as well stick with my home board and not post here anymore.
ETA: even though MM was my home board since like 2006 on TN.
I don't think anyone meant any harm. I also have been thinking about you. I hope that things are more open between you two now. I enjoy your posts and I hope you stick around.
Thanks steph, I appreciate that. Things have been much more open.
I just felt very put on the spot and random details were being recalled like I'm a stranger here. It just felt weird. I will try to toughen up.
First of all, I went in to the guest bath to put clean hand towels, etc.. in there. There are nasty globs of green crap stuck to the inside of the sink...and the toilet is covered with...you can imagine. I could see it from the doorway. :::gag::: And it's official. I can't leave the house. So this morning, I took out the trash, put all the dishes in the dishwasher started some laundry and went in to my bedroom. I had my computer and was sitting on the bed with the cat. I shut the door since the tv in the living room is turned up full blast. About 5 minutes later he comes charging through the door to my bedroom. His face was pricesless. I said "do you need something?" He said, "no I thought you left for work". (I don't work). Ummm, so what do you need in my room? I have hidden my purse and H will be discussing this with him when he gets home. And we've agreed, from now on, H will go home to see him. FIL is not welcome at our house.
...
O-M-G I can't believe this! I almost threw up (on your behalf) and I love him charging into your room...WTF!? The worst.

I don't know what thread you're referring to ... but if it helps sometimes we all have source confusion. We remember the content of a message but forget who said it. Sometimes I think back about memorable threads and wonder how the poster is doing (and in a genuine I-hope-she's-doing-okay way), but I can't even recall the screen name. I could see how a seemingly out-of-the-blue conversation about your personal life could seem disrespectful, but sometimes the tone is lost on a message board.

We're supposed to go on a hike in a little bit, but DH is painting the bathroom first (finally! Color was supposed to go on yesterday but we had primer issues.), and I have a headache. I feel guilty that he's in there painting and I'm sitting down, but I'm soooo tired of cleaning, which is what I've been doing anytime he's messing with the painting situation. The kitchen does look amazing, though.
Trying for #3; FET 8/18 -- BFN. Leaving things up to chance for now... After three years, three IVFs, and two FETs, we finally have our miracle babIES!
Rikki, this truly is random, but do you have any opinion on Maduro (Venezuela's VP, in case anyone else is interested) saying he has direct orders from Chavez saying Venezuela wants to have good relations with the US? I'm wondering if this is a result of others in the government not wanting to be totally isolated without a charismatic leader when Chavez dies.
Pom, that is horrible. Were days 1-3 just as bad? Is your FIL still staying the whole 10 days?
Honestly, I find that extremely hard to believe. I get the majority of my VZ news from Capriles and UnionRadio, so clearly it's biased, but I really can't imagine Chavez saying that. Why now? I think that there are some (many?) Chavistas who realize that once he is gone things will have to change and that for the sake of the country, improving relations with the US has to happen.
The US is the biggest buyer of Venezuelan oil. Venezuela is so oil rich. One wouldn't know it by looking around though. I've been there 8 times and each time it's more run down, dirty, unsafe, people begging in the streets, kidnappings for ransome are common occurrences, kids sniffing glue in the open public, it's just sad. It has the highest munder rate in the WORLD. Every single college educated person I know in my age range has moved to the US, Europe, or Canada, so they're missing an entire generation capable of making change. There is a HUGE gap between the rich and the poor, like few other places on earth. It's a huge cluster that I'm not sure can be changed anytime soon even with improved relations or a new leader.
The saddest part of it (to me) is that it is a vibrant country with the kindest people. The relations prior to Chavez were so much better. I worry that Chavez's polarizing personality (calling Bush the devil at the UN or referring to Obama as "the black") and rash decisions (removing ambassadors, etc.) may have done damage that won't be able to be easily fixed, even with new leadership, especially if that leadership is aligned with Chavez.
The day has just barely started and it's not going well. I spent 20 minutes looking for a still missing shoe. My niece was over last night and did something with it.
I remember her playing with my shoes (put one on her head) and I told her to put them down because they were dirty. I found one in the clothes hamper.
Did you check the trash? I don't know how old your niece is, but with my kids, they would put anything we said was dirty in the trash. Good luck!
I caught the last few minutes of President Obama's speech while waiting for my car's oil change to finish. I started to tear up, but then during Kelly Clarkson's "My country tis of thee" full tears came out.
Of course, that's when the guy came to tell me my car was done.

The "why now?" was pretty much my reaction too, and I really can only explain it by thinking that Chavez is never coming back to power, and the people he's going to leave behind see that their best bet is to try to improve international relations. Thanks for sharing your more insider perspective!
As far as the country itself goes, it does look beautiful. A friend went to Los Roques last year, but I will probably never go because the tiny planes are too scary for me, and I can't quite afford a charter yacht.
Los Roques is gorgeous! Seriously, the most beautiful place I've ever been. If you can get over your puddle jumper fear (although we didn't take one, so I totally get it!!!) GO!
I've been pretty productive today, but that kind of annoys me since this is my only day off for a while. So far today I: had a dermatologist appt, got our car fixed, ran to teacher supply store, picked up prescriptions (but Dr place order at wrong pharmasist so I was stuck waiting 30 mins), and just got off phone with Comcast and managed to lower the bill a little. I know I should either pick up a little around the house OR work on my stuff for my evaluation later this week, but I really want to just hang out and relax for the rest of the day.
When DH's cat was a kitten, I tried to do yoga with her around. Having a kitten, jump up and put her paws around your ankle, and hold on with her claws makes half moon pose very difficult (and painful) Anything that requires balance is now done behind a close door.
You get to have closed doors with a cat?
I didn't say it was tranquil and quiet Have to open the door for relaxation--and usually have a cat or two curled up next to a leg or on a hand.

i swear i'm not trying to be mean, but perhaps they don't like it. you know the old adage, if you don't have something nice to say...
a few months ago, my assistant dyed her hair bright red. i certainly noticed it (how could i not), but i didn't say anything to her about it.

My kids made me breakfast in bed. Total surprise. We are seeing the hobbit and I am bored out of my mind. Posting while the phone is in my purse it's so bad
I took my car in for a routine oil change and it actually needed the 30,000 service plus there might be a transmission leak. We bought the extended warranty and now the dealership can't find that record. I'm annoyed that a $40.00 service might be $1300. Plus DH got crappy that I authorized service without talking to him.
Normally it's not too bad, but at night its been getting so thick that visibility is literally down to 1/4 mile. And that's for lights. To see a pedestrian or something, you'd have to pretty much right on top of them.
It's been really foggy here, too. Stupid thing I heard on the news this morning: when the traffic person was talking about being careful out there because of low visibility, she said she had even heard from one person that "visibility was even worse with high beams on."
Uh, duh. H and I just exchanged confused looks, because... doesn't everyone know that?

H found it! He said he found it in the hamper. I guess I didn't look hard enough. I'm so glad it was not in the trash though!
Oh pom, I feel your pain. I once found FIL sleeping IN my bed! I didn't handle it very well. I flipped my shit.
WTF, is your FIL one of the 3 bears? I would DIE if my FIL was in my bed. Right now, he is sitting outside without a shirt on. 75 years old with out a shirt is not good. The really offensive part is that H tried to get him to go outside and sit by the pool for the last 2 fucking days and he kept saying it was too windy. It is way worse, wind-wise today and there he is...a-hole.
ETA...oh wait, hold the phone. HE TOOK HIS PANTS OFF AND IS SITTING IN HIS UNDERWEAR ON MY DECK. My neighbors have little kids next door. HOLY SHIT.

Ha! No, this group would definitely say something, regardless of whether it was nice or not.

OMG I'm giggling like a little schoolgirl! I can't even imagine how you handle that sort of situation! I'm happy your husband is coming home to deal with it. Your husband is going to owe you a really nice gift after all of this is done.
