Autumn passed in her sleep last night. I was going to slip this into the next random thread, but seeing all the pet posts today made me miss her more. She was 11 years old and had been in declining health for about a year.
SO is understandably upset and I'm glad he had today off. He's had her since high school and she was the first dog that was really his. She slept at the end of his bed and used to lick his toes if he forgot to wear socks. She loved belly rubs more than anything and would plop on her back if you tried to pet her head.
Thanks if you read this. I've known her over three years and I know I'm going to miss her a lot too.

I am so sorry for your and SO's loss, but a small consolation that she passed peacefully. I lost my dog 1.5 years ago and I still have nightmares about putting her to sleep even though it was the only option since she was 16 and her cancer had returned. Autumn is adorable and she was lucky to have such a loving owner. I'm really sorry.
Ugh, that is such a horrible feeling. Very sorry for your loss.
DH lost his childhood dog when we were in college. He was curled up in a ball on his bed crying when I went over to comfort him. It was awful. Hope your SO is thinking about good memories and feeling at peace.
