I bought a 2007 Nissan Sentra this past summer from a dealership, and they only gave me one key. It came with a remote lock/unlock, but not a remote starter or an alarm button.
Where can I go to get a spare key, and how much might it cost me?
I'm Googling but I'm getting a lot of different information. Some people are saying $100+ and only from the dealership, others are saying about $60 from a locksmith, a few are saying that Home Depot can do it for a few bucks. I've also seen some websites mentioned.
I don't even really care about any remote features. I just want to be able to open and start the car if I lock my original key inside or if I lose it forever.
Does your key have a chip in it? If it does then you will either need to order one and program it yourself or get a new key from the dealer (then they will program it).
H got a key from amazon and did the programming. He said that it was a pain but doable.
Are you a member of AAA? They will make keys for free, had a few made for my chip/key. If you are just looking for extra keys for the door--can go anywhere. I have a spare of that as well, for those times you lock yourself out.

Thanks for the input! I'll call the dealership today to get a quote.
Re: AAA, I actually have to renew it and get MH on the policy. Thanks for the reminder.
Of course it is too late for you, but I would have requested they program a 2nd key as part of my purchase.
The last car I bought I stipulated that I wanted 3 keys. They tried to get away with giving me 2 when I went to pick it up. I told them the deal was 3 and I wasnt taking the car without it. They went and got the sales manager and he agreed with me...I negotiated for 3 and they would go take care of it right away.
DH and I each carry the other's key plus we have the 3rd spare at home.
