and surprisingly, it went very well. I'd been a little hesitant to talk to her about my plans concerning H, but I'm so glad I did!!
She was much more supportive than I had expected, and she didn't seem surprised by anything I said. Apparently I'm not so good at hiding things.
We were able to brainstorm and come up with a plan that gets me and DS out in about 6 months. Not as quickly as I'd like, but it gives me some time to get everything in order, get some money saved, and hopefully make the transition as smooth as possible for us.
I worry about how DS will handle it, but I worry more about him growing up thinking that his dad's behavior is normal and acceptable.
If by some twist of fate, I am able to make it work sooner, I'll be out sooner. But 6 months is a whole lot better than never.

Me too. I was worried about it though. I was raised in a very traditional, Catholic household. Divorce was just not something that was acceptable. I wasn't sure how she was going to take it when I told her that I wanted to leave H. But she acted like she already knew... She probably did. That mom of mine, she drives me crazy, but she's pretty awesome.

I'm kind of a planner by nature, so it does make me feel more in control. I didn't realize how much I'd been missing that feeling. It's kind of liberating.

Thank you guys for your support in this. It seems a little strange to get so much support from a bunch of people I've never met, but it also helps me to realize that I am absolutely making the right decision.
