When you get that sick feeling...?

What do you do?
My nose is congested, my throat barely itches, and I keep squeezing.
I don't feel bad YET- but it is coming.

What meds should I take or remedies to prevent this from getting worse?
I don't have time to be sick. School just started and work is getting crazy!

Drink lots of fluids, eat healthy, noalcohol, get lots of sleep. IMO, the best defense is healthy livin'

DH drinks lots of OJ but I don't think that helps. My bro takes Echinacea, but again, seems like bunk.

I use Zicam spray every few hours, make sure to take Emer-gen-C and my vitamins, keep up on fluid intake, and try to rest.

I drink orange juice and then a lot of water. Don't drink and go to bed early.

Sinus rinse 3x a day, mucinex/afrin/sudafed depending on how in feeling snot-wise, hot tea with lemon and honey for the throat, and gargle with half warm water half hydrogen peroxide. And extra sleep.

Vitamin C and Echinacea (like others have suggested) and I'm a sucker for a NyQuil induced slumber

Same as everyone. I drink lots of water & tea. Take echinacea 3x a day, drink 2 emergen-c a day & usually take an antihistamine to help dry up everything. If that's not enough, I'll add in a sudafed to dry it even more. That's exactly what I did last week when I felt a cold coming & a mild sore throat. I still got a little congestion, but it stopped at that. I got off easy on that one.

Zinc lozenges. Cold Eeze is the brand we use. They work like a charm; they noticeably shorten the severity and duration of my colds.

I take zinc (not the lozenges, but a vitamin), vitamin C, and vitamin B6. I also use the neti pot and gargle with salt water.

My mom swears by Oil of Oregano. I haven't tried it yet.

This was me yesterday at about 5AM.

I drank an emergen-C packet, made some hot tea with lemon and googled "home remedy". I found this recipe:

It tastes pretty bad, but it worked. I am sold on it. I woke up today completely fine, and a cold usually takes me out for a good 2-3 days. I highly recommend it!

I am taking Tylenol Cold now and have been loading up on EmergenC for extra vitamin C. I also need more sleep since that usually helps.

The Riteaid knock off Emergen-C in lemon lime is delicious.

Thanks for all the reqs! I took airborne and on the hunt for some emergen-c! They didn't have any at the gas station I went to on my lunch break.

My high school boyfriend's mom used to make me take oil of oregano when I was sick. She'd mix some up in a glass of water. It tasted horrible. No idea if it worked.
