So I tried to get a prescription filled last week and discovered that my doctor has left the state! No one from the office felt the need to inform either me of my H that she left a couple of months ago, so it was a surprise. I'm bummed because, while I thought the office staff at her practice was terrible, she was a really nice, easygoing doctor and I liked her, plus I had talked to her about trying to get pregnant and she was really down to earth in explaining the process (plus she really emphasized to come in for an appointment at any point if I had concerns). So now I am scrambling to find a new primary care doctor (because if I do get pregnant, it'd be nice to, you know, have a doctor who can take care of me, do a blood test, and refer me to an obgyn). Any advice for finding a good doctor?
Thanks! I live in Tucson, but we only came to the area a couple of years ago and I still feel pretty new. I asked around to a couple of people at work today, but we haven't told anyone that we're TTC (and most of our friends here are childfree anyway), so I left out the TTC bit.
I do think I have found a new doctor after doing a little research and making some calls this afternoon. I made a new patient appointment and hope I like her. They can't see me for a new patient appointment for a few weeks though (I guess they only have a certain amount of new patient appointments per week?) and nothing's wrong with me right now, so I guess that'll do (if I get a bfp before then, I guess I'll call and ask to come in earlier). I admit, I'm a little timid with all things medical and I avoid the doctor, for the most part (this is changing, obviously, with TTC!). I had Kaiser for my entire life before I came here, so I'm not used to the way my insurance works either. Thanks for the advice!
