Good luck. Eat lots of ice cream for the next few days. Not because it helps the teeth at all but just because it is one of the few times in life where it is okay to eat lots of ice cream for several consecutive days.
Mine weren't impacted but there was no way I was staying awake for that. I had general anesthesia and certainly don't regret missing out on all of that.
Good luck! I will keep my fingers crossed for you!
I have been putting off my extraction(s) for 6 years.
I promised my dentist I would have an appointment for the oral surgeon set by the next time I was in her office. I told her I'd make it my New Year resolution.
I am going for a filling on Monday and I haven't called the oral surgeon yet.
In waiting room now. Mine only bother me a couple times a year, but I have great dental coverage and won't have to pay for it. If I lost my job, I'd lose those benefits. Also I'm youngish so I think it will be easier.

Good luck! I had all four of mine out the same way, and it was fine. Honestly, the worst part (other than just being scared the whole time until it was over) was that the metallic taste of the shots stayed in my mouth for several hours. I got all set up with my big bowl of chocolate ice cream purchased specially, dug in and...it tasted gross. I cried. So I hope your experience on the ice cream front is better!
Vigurl, I was told they could move my other teeth and, for the two that were out of the gum, that they made the teeth they touched more prone to cavities since it was harder to get my toothbrush back there with less space. That's why I eventually got them out even though they didn't bug me.
Come back and tell me all about it. I get mine out soon. Ugh.
Mine keeps telling me to take mine out but they don't bother me so why should I, right? Or am I wrong about this?
I think it's because they cause so many problems for some people, and they are really hard to get out (supposedly) the older you get. The also decay faster since they are harder to brush.

Uhg that is exactly what I have been told. Maybe I should listen.

Ahhhhh! I just got home from my consultation for having mine removed. I've got two impacted in the lower jaw that need to come out. I'll have IV sedation, but I'm super freaked out. DVO, please update us... I hope it goes well for you!

This happened to DH, he didn't have them out, and they got cavity after cavity, ended up with a root canal, crown, and now there's a cyst forming above the tooth. He's going in for major surgery on Monday to have the cyst, that tooth, the corresponding lower tooth, and another removed. He's petrified. I'm petrified.
And he's a good brusher! 2x/day plus mouthwash and flossing a few times a week.
I'm fine! It was all over in 45 mins and was painless. DH is on his way to get me ice cream now. I hope it tastes good!
My dentist always told me that if my wisdom tooth ever got a cavity that he would just pull it.that hadn't happened, but I felt like I was waiting for that to happen.
I have only taken 2 ibuprofen so far, so I hope that's all I need.

YIKES!!! You have actually convinced me. Jeeze why didn't the dentist just say so. I would have listened.

Yes, I would probably just get them out.
My wisdom teeth don't hurt me at all, but one of them is actually positioned in a way that it makes it difficult to clean the tooth in front of it. I really didn't know this until I went to the dentist last week and the x-rays showed I needed a root canal on that tooth. So he's pulling wisdom teeth and doing a root canal on the same day..fun! I brush and floss all the time and I've never had to have any dental work aside from braces.
