I want to purge your closet. If its been in there for 18 months and you haven't worn it just sell it/bring it to goodwill! My obsessive organization would love to attack this!

Yeah, I have a big goodill bag now. There were some good things in there that I'll wear, but a lot of it is stuff that needs to be donated.
You need to purge, purge, purge. I can guarantee that my closet space is a fraction of others' and I don't have clothes piling up everywhere. I do have a laundry basket that overflows, but clean clothes all have a place.

Yeah, I have way too much shit. I'm bad about thinking that maybe I'll fit into something again, or maybe I'll find an occasion for that dress I've never worn, etc.
If it doesn't fit, I don't like it, it doesn't look good, or I haven't worn it in a year (exceptions for special occasion stuff), it gets donated or tossed. Period. I don't have the luxury of storing things I'm not using. I also just have the attitude that if I really miss it, it can be purchased again.

GoDawgs - Have you ever seen these?
I bought something similar from Target for less than $10 and have it in half of my closet. It hangs from the bar you already have there and doubles your space. It gave me so much more room.

Buy a large garment rack and a back of the door organizer. Immediately!!! IMO you don't even need a guest bed. You need to make that an office/ walk in closet. Because it would get more use.

Get some of those rolling garmet racks. The boxy ones that zip are nice. You can sort your clothes into season or work/going out/casual or whatever. It will increase your storage. Or better yet throw your husbands clothes in them. My husband knew by moving into a smaller apartment without the bedroom sized walk in closet that i was used to he would be lucky to get any closet space at all.
