My boss is essentially promoting me to a new, more permanent, role. It's a promotion because it's a Lead role and it's more responsibility than my current role (I'd have people reporting to me and I'd have to validate their work, current role I'm the only one doing my work - no one above or below me).
One boss says 'We can't offer you an employee role because that would involve creating a whole new position which we can't do now. But we'll move you back to your previous higher contractor rate.'
The other boss says 'Why would there be a rate change?' She's the one who sets the budget for our department.
I wish they would just get on the same page.
Of course I want my old rate back! I took at 25% pay cut to be brought back on a temporary assignment. This would be a 'permanent' (open ended contract) position that I wouldn't need to worry about downsizing AS MUCH as my current or previous role.
Oh and did I mention that accepting the new role means I have to be in the office once a week? It's 3hrs one way from where I live. It's not the end of the world, but come on - 3 hrs?! And the reason I need to be in the office 'face time with my team'. Because no one has ever heard of web cams...
Thanks for letting me vent- I can't talk about this stuff with my friends/coworkers for a variety of reasons obviously.
