My opks are starting to turn positive again...for the third (and hopefully final) time this cycle. Does anyone else have this pattern where opks fade in and out a couple of times before o'ing? Is something wrong with me or it normal to gear up a few times without ovulating? I have eventually ovulated every other cycle, following this pattern in the past. I've been off the pill since September and it seems like this has happened every cycle that I've used opks.
It starts as a faint line, then progresses to a dark-ish line, very close/nearly equal to the control line after a day or two. Then it fades away. I know that I haven't o'ed because I temp. It has done this twice this cycle already and now it is getting dark again. This time, I think I will o after because the timing is right for my long (34-35 day) cycle. My cycles are still regulating after bc, but They seem to have settled into this pattern. It's frustrating and makes it hard to time though and now I'm wondering if something is wrong with me/my hormones to cause this roller-coaster pattern. I read that people with PCOS can have multiple positive opks, but I don't have any other symptoms or anything.
From what I've heard, it does happen often. I'm not sure if it's "normal" necessarily (you could ask your doctor if you're concerned about it). But yeah, it does happen.
This happened to me my first cycle off BC, I geared up to O and didn't then Oed a couple days later. This cycle I switched to clear blue easy digitals & got a smiley face & Oed the next day (confirmed by temps). I would also speak to your dr.
Wasn't this a symptom of endo? Or some other fertility problem? Where the body gears up frequently but doesn't? Edit - it's PCOS, you mentioned it above.
OP, if you've just come of BC, don't sweat it and give your body a while. I was on one of the lowest dose BCs on the market and it's been 7 months and I still don't think things have completely re-regulated.
Also, another thought: how long are you waiting before peeing? The concentration could be affecting the color.
thanks tarheels, you're right, I might just be adjusting after bc. I finally had it go, like, super positive (much, much darker than the control line) and my temp spiked the next day, just like it should have. The "false positives" before were as dark as or almost as dark as the control line, but not super dark. Maybe I should just keep my eye out for super dark next time? I do usually try and hold it for at least a couple hours before I test. Sometimes, it can be hard if I'm thirsty though (notorious water guzzler here!). I think I just o'ed a couple of days ago though, so hopefully I'll get pregnant and not have to worry about opks again for a good long while
