Oh yeah, I loved the whole A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) series, but they are LONG. And all the endings are kind of cliffhangers, which made me read them all back to back, and that's a serious time commitment.
They are totally worthwhile, but I will say the time he takes to write each subsequent book is far too long. I started reading them in 2005 and I have to refresh myself on the WHOLE series every time a new book comes out.
I couldn't finish Night Circus either. It was a book club book and most of the other ladies didn't like it, although previously I had heard good things about it.
I am reading Gone Girl. I am about halfway through and cant put it down. I am worried after hearing many people here hate the ending. I have my theories about why that may be so I am so curious to get there!

I struggled to get through book 4 and by the time I did had lost interest so stopped about 100 pages into book 5 and am now wary to pick it back up for fear I won't remember who is who... need a HUGE family tree for that one.
I also loved 11/22/63 and have been recommending it and loved The Paris Wife. I read Gillian Flynn's "Sharp Objects" and thought that it was kind of shallow for the subject matter.
Rules of Civility Driftless Perks of Being a Wallflower When We Were the Kennedys The Fault in our Stars Snobs (by Julian Fellowes of Downton Abbey fame) The Snowman, by Jo Nesbo
I've been bad about reading lately. Last book I finished was Gone Girl. Right now I'm sort of dragging my feet through The Hobbit.
Some YA books I've read in the last year or two and liked: Daughter of Smoke and Bone (waiting for the sequel to come out!) Anna and the French Kiss Lola and the Boy Next Door The Body Finder The Forest of Hands and Teeth (and the others in the series, YA book about future society plagued by zombies) Divergent (I didn't love as much as others, but it was okay) If I Stay Where She Went The Pledge (also kind of just okay) The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

I stalled on the fourth book, as well. I think I actually started it last spring, after reading the first three pretty quickly. I just couldn't get into the fourth, and was trudging through... I think I was about halfway through when Elliott was born. I haven't tried it again since then, but I want to! Especially since I hear the story does get interesting again.
I recently read The Dog Stars by Peter Heller and loved it. If you like post-apocalytic stuff, this is a good one - very similar in style to The Road, but you're not going to want to OD on pills afterward.

I thought The Night Circus was nice, but not one of my favorites.
If anyone likes SciFi, I recently read Hyperion which is an old classic and I thought it was amazing, though it kind of forces you to read the second book. Also loved The Book Thief, which people probably read already.
For the YA fans, I have not read Code Name Verity, but I have heard really good things.
I'm in the middle of In the Garden of Beasts:Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin. It is so interesting!
I just finished In the Garden of Beasts....definitely good! I love those types of books, though.
I just started Commencement by J. Courtney Sullivan this morning. So far so good.
Other books I love: Pink Carnation series by Lauren Willig Lady Julia Grey series by Deanna Raybourn Lady Emily series by Tasha Alexander
For YA stuff, I'm friends with Elizabeth Bunce, who wrote A Curse as Dark as Gold, which is a re-telling of the Rumplestiltskin legend, set in the 1700s. Its definitely good - not too paranormal, but a little fantasy.

The sequel to The Daughter of Smoke and Bone was released last fall. It's called Days of Blood and Starlight and it's great! I enjoyed it much more than the first book in the series.
Sugarbear, it was an amazing book. How did you feel about "we need to talk about Kevin"? Similarly, they will both haunt me, DJ was very well written and the ending blew me away. Do you have kids? If so any troubles with them lately?

Really? Crap, I thought I pre-ordered it, and have been waiting for months for it to show up in my Kindle app! Maybe I didn't actually do that...
Thanks for telling me, I'm going to download it now!
Rules of Civility was one of my favorite books of last year. I totally wanted to hang out with Katey and her friends in 30s NYC, and I was so sad when the book ended.
My most recent favorites are Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt (my favorite book of 2012 - I've been telling everyone I know to read it) and Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple. Totally different books (I mentioned over on Book Club that my friend's review of TtWIH was "it made me feel all the feelings"), but really good reads.
I also just read Hopeless and liked it. I didn't like how different the two halves of the book were from each other, but overall, I enjoyed it and read it quickly.
I highly recommend The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I just finished that last weekend and it was SO good. The movie just came out on DVD, but I am afraid to see it because the book was so good!
I have been reading the Alex Cross series by James Patterson when it gets too depressing I look for random books on Amazon in the young adult or romance sections.
I am currently reading Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry (it's a YA book)
Also on my Kindle from recently...
