If I get another email from a vendor or coworker using unnecessary abbreviations or text speak this week, I might scream.
Yesterday I got an email from a vendor that ended with, "Thx!!" Seriously? Are you 12?
And today I got an out-of-office from a manager at one of our locations that said, "I will be out til Monday 1/28." Was it really THAT much more work to write out "until"? Really?

Please tell me I'm not the only person that experiences this?
95% of the time I use correct grammar, sentence structure, etc to most of my coworkers. However, there is that 5% that I use slang on certain "silly" emails or gchat even if we're talking business.
Even our CEO and other senior staff sometimes uses thx, text speak or slang in very casual emails or gchat. I don't really judge it too hard. Obviously they (nor I) ever do this at inappropriate times.
To be clear, I totally agree with you about there being a time and a place.
If it were in an instant message or a quick email to a coworker, fine with me. But in an outgoing communication to everyone who sends you an email? Or to a company with whom you are trying to get business? That's what hangs me up.
