Dammit, Colleen. Even if I would have seen the post, I wouldn't have been able to reply since it's on TB.
I think that expensive/brand name shampoo and conditioner are worth it. I can't afford it but the best shampoo and conditioner that I have ever used is Fekkai Advanced Essential Shea. And I second Dane's suggestion of the purple-based shampoo that you can get at Sally's. Or any shampoo with a purple tint to it, will keep your highlights looking fresh for longer. www.beauty.com/fekkai/qxb44840 And you say I don't care?

Thanks Pursemeatballs! I was laughing with your other post where you said you didn't care about most of the shit on the BMB. I know I'm not helping the "board being dead" factor by talking about shampoo!
I am definitely going to check out this shampoo at Sally's, and I think I might spend the money and go for the Pureology that Woodsie mentioned. I don't mind spending the money, but it's just one of those things I've always wondered if it's worth it (like expensive jeans.) KWIM?

I haven't been to the BMB thread today, but Ulta does awesome shampoo and conditioner liter sales. I usually buy a Brocatto (sp?) liter for $11, and it lasts at least 6 months.

I do 'no poo'. Even though it is the stupidest name ever, it is the best thing to ever happen to my hair. Also, I spend like $4 for several months' supply. All you bitches spending big money on shampoo better recognize.
Me, too, kelly. I switched to a more natural shampoo because I hate all the chemicals, but my hair isn't as soft or easy to brush. If the no poo (yeah, idiotic name) works as well as that stuff and costs less, I'll be happy. If it works better, I'll be over the moon.

I only 'wash' my hair once or twice a week. Before I started doing it, I washed everyday. Basically, commercial shampoos strip your hair of it's oil causing you to overproduce which is why your hair gets greasy so fast. So I had to go through a detox period where my hair was a bit greasy. You can gradually wean and space out your washings or go cold turkey which is what I did since I was home with 2u2 anyway. On non-wash days you just scrub your head under the running water in the shower.
I use sulfate and silicone free shampoo and cond. (In case anyone is taking a survey) It makes my hair feel better, and curl better. And I only use the shampoo every other washing, but I always condition. I don't see, with my hair type, just 'scrubbing my head under running water' going well.

Seriously guise, google no poo and read aaaallll the stories of people who were like "baking soda and vinegar? That's crazy talk. OHMYGOD IT"S THE BEST THING EVER."
Wait...that's what it consists of? Isn't that how you make a volcano??
My hair isn't all that greasy. Its actually on the dry side. In fact, I haven't washed it in 4 days and its not greasy yet. But, when I style it curly I use product. That needs to be washed out.

You use baking soda dissolved in water for shampoo and vinegar water for conditioner. It makes your hair so clean! It made my hair curlier as well from less buildup.
