H and I just got back from sitting down with a lawyer to draft up our will. I'm feeling pretty good about it. We're usually slackers about getting around to this sort of thing, so I'm glad we got it done while A is still so young.
Confession: I had him add a provision about the dogs and got a little verklepmt thinking about it. Not about the baby, but about the dogs. Oye.

Well, there's two of them, right? And only one baby, so ...

I don't. Although I was talking to a friend about possible egg harvesting and she was saying if I do it, I really should make up a will because it "gets really sticky when it comes to that stuff".
I feel sorry for the fucker who would end up with my frozen eggs, haha!
Damn now I'm all freaked out! Apparently, if I kick it, half my stuff goes to Mr. Smock, and the other half is divided equally between my parents. Uh, that is not my desire. Time to get myself a will!

We're still discussing ours, primarily who'd have custody of the kids if were to both die. We're working on it though.
My Uncle's will was written on a legal pad and found crumpled in an old desk of his. Not to mention he had 5 life insurance policies but none of them could be collected on because his named beneficiaries were all dead. My Mom and aunts went through 3 shredders the week they went out to finalize his affairs.
I have one from before I was married. It's recommended that you do one before joining the PC. Along with dental x-rays, so that there will be no problem identifying your body. :^)

We don't but it's on the to-do list for this year. I'm kind of on the fence about doing one now and then amending it after the Deuce arrives, or just waiting till after the Deuce and doing it in one fell swoop. And then we want to set up a living trust and blah blah blah what a huge PITA.
Based on what happened last time around, I'm thinking I should probably do a simple one before and then amend later, to include the Deuce and the trust.

If you are splitting assets equally, can't you just word it to include all offspring or something vague and all encompassing like that?

That's how ours will be. It speaks of generic children. And the language for the trust is worded the same, with reference to age of the youngest, etc. Unless you want to give less to one of them, or something like that.

Thanks for the tips, you guys. I don't know why I was more thinking for guardianship like you need to be super specific about whom you're talking about, but no we would not be splitting them up or treating them any different from each other or anything like that. So yeah.
