The other bridesmaids are sort of failing in the planning the shower part of the whole bridesmaid job description. Lots of reasons, I get it, no big deal. However, asking for ideas is like pulling teeth. I throw something out there and all I get is, yes that's great. Ok, so I have an assignment for you, if you choose to accept it.
Share some thoughts on a "lucky in love" (the Irish version not gambling) bridal shower. It will be Saturday, March 16th. The location is a wine bar that has food. They call themselves a "wine market," whatever that is.
I really want to avoid the over the top cheesiness.
Ideas I have come up with so far but nothing is final and I'm really looking for additional suggestions:
Guest book: quilt squares (I was loving this but now I'm over it)
Favors: Little tera cotta pots with "four leaf clovers." You know, there's bound to be a four leaf clover somewhere in the mix.
The food is going to be apps: cheese platter, hummus plate and "door" pizza (straight off their menu). And there will be wine, lots and lots of wine for me.
Her wedding colors are: purple and silver. So green, purple and silver is the color scheme. And...go!
PS: One bridesmaid keeps insisting we need to go to Hobby Lobby. How do I break it to her gently that hell will freeze over before I step foot in that place?
If you're over quilt squares, one guest book idea that I like (I did it for my wedding in a modified way) - have guests sign a wine bottle in silver sharpie. Then the couple can drink it on their wedding night/honeymoon/first anniversary. Whatever. My husband and I did 750ml bottles of craft beer and are cellaring them for milestone anniversaries (I think we did 1st, 5th, 10th and 20th).

That's neat. Especially since it's going to be at a wine "market."
Really I would send invitations, pay for the party and call it good. It always seems awkward to me when people bring decorations to restaurants.
Yeah. Why does there have to be anything else? Unless it's really more of a market than restaurant.
I'm also someone whose planning as MOH for my sister was limited to booking the flight, so obviously I fall on the side of not doing crafts and themey decorations.
