I never go "out". Like ever. A group of us are going to dinner and then a drag show downtown at a club for a friends birthday. I am thinking just jeans and a top, but I have no idea what kind of top. I dress pretty conservatively, it is freaking cold, and my friend told me I couldn't wear anything that I would normally to wear to work.
I'm going shopping in the AM, what are some things I should look for or avoid? Of course the more mm the better!

Why can't you dress normally? Just because your friend said so? She just wants to see you wear something more... clubby? I'm a conservative dresser too. Last time I found myself in an almost identical situation, I wore a pants suit to dinner, and just unbuttoned my blazer at the drag show and revealed my black lace cami. It worked well.
In these situations, one of my fave looks is to pair a black blazer with skinny jeans and heels.
Depending on the event, I sometimes will rock a sparkly tank under the blazer or pair a skinny tshirt with a big necklace under it.
Instead of feeling like you have to buy something new, maybe play around with your closet and see if you can pair things together that you normally wouldn't wear together for work. Does that make sense?
I dress comfortable. Knee boots, jeans, cute top and a nice winter jacket. Ann Taylor is normally my go to store for everything. I dont do dresses/skirts, especially when its freezing out.
shortstax already named my outfit. I think skinny jeans, heels, and a blazer look good on pretty much everyone if you find the right fit. It's so easy to dress it up or down depending on the event.
