For those who don't know the back story, around this time last year I was training to run my first half marathon and injured my knee. I had knee surgery in June and did not run the half and instead spent a month on crutches, 2 months in PT and spent the next few months recovering. I was cleared to resume full normal activity the week of Christmas and I am currently running 10-11 miles per week. I am running a 10K on June 9th and feel pretty good but sometimes have a little soreness in my knee. My little sister wants me to run R&R Virginia Beach with her Labor Day weekend. It would be both of our first HMs. I want to run it, but DH is worried that it's too soon.
I would start Hal Higdon's novice training plan the day after my 10K and it would be exactly 12 weeks away. What does H&F think? Should I sign up or is it too soon? If I sign up, it will be tonight because the price gets raised tomorrow.
I think it might be a good idea to tenatively train for it, but hold off on registering until you actually have gotten into the training a little bit and you feel comfortable with higher mileage.
