Maudie's for Mexican food, there are several locations The Oasis (for margaritas and the view...the food isn't fantastic, but grab some queso or nachos) Moonshine - good food (lunch or dinner - downtown)
South Congress for some eclectic shopping The Domain for regular ol' shopping, it's just huge and there are tons of restaurants there to try as well
Hula Hut is a nice place to eat on the water. My fave restaurant is Chuy's. I definitely recommend getting some BBQ, Salt Lick is a good place but a bit out of town. If you don't want to head out that way Rudy's is really good too. For shopping I'd suggest South Congress. You can shop and enjoy food from the food trailers which are yummy. Have fun! PS. Trudy's has the best Mexican Martini!

I love Salt Lick. It's definitely a drive, but it's a fun experience. (FYI - It's in a dry county, so it's BYOB.) And I agree with mrsnole that Rudy's is good if you don't have that much time. I actually like their barbecue a lot better than County Line, etc.
Definitely try and make it to the Salt Lick great bbq (I agree with others about going to Rudy's if not). Also, about 30 minutes south of Austin is a HUGE outlet mall in San Marcos, so that may be something to look into as well if you have the time for it. Have fun... that whole area is my old college stomping grounds and I miss it!
