And I feel like a bitch, but whatever. My co-worker's daughter is pregnant. (there was definitely some judging there, but I'm past it) She's 18, got pregnant with the new boyfriend (that we weren't supposed to like) as soon as she graduated high school. OK. My friend is excited. I'm excited for her. Then she started with the "It had better be a girl" statements... ^o) I hate that stuff, but whatever. Then it was "It won't be fair if YOU got a girl, and WE get a boy" Um....WTF is THAT supposed to mean?! No, I'm not very girly. But, I never professed wanting either gender, so that's pretty rude. *judge, judge* Whatever. Thankfully for the baby, it IS a girl since everyone knows it would just be HORRIBLE to have a boy!
So this morning I see a FB post from my friend. "At the hospital with daughter...please pray" My heart jumped. I hope all is ok with the baby. An update says she was worried because the baby hadn't really moved all day. But, all is well, Ember was just being stubborn. Phew, glad everything is well.....wait, WHO was being stubborn?? So, I send the "Glad all is well with mom and baby!" post. Followed by: "I must have missed it though...have we decided on a name?
Yep......EMBER RAIN.
*judge judge*
to each his own. NMS though. I would be more ok with it if she was all free spirited and hippie-esque. But, she's straight up redneck. I must be PMS-ing or something, because I've just been eye-rolling this all day.
Ember Rain sounds like a 90's indie song. It KILLS me when someone professes such a strong desire for one sex over the other. I always fell like if is the "wrong" sex that poor kid is always going to deal with some degree of resentment. I would judge for that too.

Horrible name. Awful.
Regardless, I can't believe she said how unfair it would be if she had a boy and you had a girl. I fail to see how your baby is in any way related to her equation. Oh well.
I don't know if it is because I have a boy or what, but I get seriously disturbed by " it better be a girl" statements. I feel like people seem to make those more than " it better be a boy". BOYS ARE AWESOME.

Sent from the bottom of a Clorox bottle.
Yes they are. I am so excited for Lexi to have two older brothers. They adore her, and she is just crazy about them.
My heart melts every time one of my boys walk up to me and "Mommy, you are so pretty." I was walking around in no makeup, a funky ponytail, and PJs yesterday, when Eli came up to me, hugged me and said "I love you, Mommy. You are the prettiest mommy in the world."
Oh, I hate when people have a preference for either boy or girl. When I was pregnant with DD, my sister said she hoped I had a girl, but part of that was because between her and our friends from high school, there were 14 boys and no girls--she wanted someone to buy dresses for. I gave her a pass though, because she didn't really care that much.
I also hate when people act like it's so important to have one of each. When we told my ILs over Christmas that we're probably done, my FIL was all, "Well, it makes sense, you have one of each." I told him that didn't matter to us, but he still pushed at asked, "Yeah, but if you had had a girl this time, wouldn't you want to try again for a boy?" Umm. No. The only reason we stopped at 2 was because of the increased risk of preemies as I get older.
Anytime someone voices a preference for one sex over the other, I immediately wish that they get the opposite.
And that name is baaad.
I did this with my SIL. She wanted a second girl so bad and I wished that she would get a boy. She did. The disappointment in her voice when she told us was so pathetic
Yep me too, especaiily when it's the first child or they are just plain annoying about it. SIL is due this April and said that she won't stop until she get a girl....so....I was hoping that she had a boy. They did a gender reveal cake at Thanksgiving, when the knife came out blue I shouted , "Shut the Fuck up!" <), it was amazing!!!
