The is for posting this, I was dying to talk about it!
Ever since giving birth, I cry watching someone on TV/ in a movie give birth (I didn't cry giving birth to my own child!). And I knew this was coming, I even guessed at it before they aired the episode in Britain last fall.
But DAMN. I bawled. Then ran upstairs and hugged my little girl. I love Sybil.
It looks like this is going to put a serious strain on Robert and Cora's marriage. I e also noticed how much older they're letting Cora look. Lots of wrinkles.
As usual, the dowager countess nailed her lines. I loved her in this episode.
Calvin & I were guessing at what will happen with Tom and the baby. My guess is that she's baptized Catholic, but I'm not sure where I think they'll go (eventually, when the baby's older). Tom wants to go back to Dublin to fight for a Republic of Ireland, but care of a newborn daughter isn't consistent with that. I'm not sure what my best guess is.
I was a annoyed at Mary (happening a lot this season!) when Edith was trying to reach out and Mary's like Nope this won't change anything between us!
OMG, my husband and I both burst into laughter at that part. I realize it probably wasn't intentionally funny, but British humor is so dry that I am suspicious that it wasn't supposed to be entirely unfunny, either.

I think there is going to be a lot of tension between everyone, over Sybil's death and Matthew trying to shake things up.
I thought Mary was in classic bitch mode in her response to Edith. I hope Edith takes the job at the newspaper and shakes things up a bit. She needs a break.
I suspect there is going to be a major fight/show down between Mary and Matthew. I thought he made perfect sense when he tried to explain that he was getting involved and concerned for the estate so that it can be around for generations to come. Granted, he might not have had the best timing, but some one has to speak up.
And it was interesting that he was concerned that he might not be able to father a child. I want to know why Mary avoids the topic, but confides in Sybil that she wants to start a family of her own?

After how much to-do there was in earlier seasons about who the heir would be, it doesn't surprise me that Mary and Matthew would be thinking about producing the next heir, and possibly be a little anxious if it didn't happen easily/right away.
Mary being so eager for a child kind of surprises me. She just doesn't strike me as a mom. On the other hand, it's about the only thing she has been raised to do, so I guess it makes sense.

Yeah but having a child doesn't require much mothering in this crowd, you know? There are nannies and governesses for that.
