TrudyCampbellbebeetmoi , I thought you guys lived in the front lines of the mommy wars, but wow, the women in my neighborhood are either terrible or I'm a really bad mom.
J and I were walking to get groceries for dinner tonight. It is barely barely snowing. J prefers to have the hood thing on the stroller up - he likes the the snow, whatever. In the 6 blocks between the store and my apartment 2 women told me I really should put it down. He was fully bundled up. A few snowflakes won't hurt him.
And then I went to the bakery to get a latte and these two students were leaving ahead of me. They saw me leaving with my stroller, groceries and coffee and just let the door slam ON the stroller.
Then! Crossing the street to get home, some guy comes barreling around the corner without looking and almost ran us over.
None of that surprises me! It happens on a daily basis around these parts. I don't let the fellow mom side eyes bother me, but the lack of courtesy is realllllly taking a toll!

I hate people.
We are taking a Music Together class and it's literally on my block. It's basically directly across the street from my apartment. Last week I didn't have V bundled up in a big coat, I just had her in her normal clothes, a hat, and I zipped her into my winter coat in the ergo. 3 different moms commented on it. Come on people! Deal with your own damn child.
I think next time I'm gonna try to work up the nerve to tell them to focus on raising their own kids. I've just been giving them dirty looks and walking away.
I did shout something snide at the students who let the door slam on my stroller

I've had people tell me "Oh you should cover her face." Yea? With what? A plastic bag? She has a fitted hood that goes under her snow suit and the snowsuit hood on as well. Also, in case you didn't realize, she breathes from her face thankyouverymuch.
I always want to respond "Oh, remember when I didn't ask for your opinion?" But its always old ladies in my neighborhood.
When people let doors slam in my face or on my stroller, I yell out "Thank you, that was very kind."

Ugh!! We get that side eye here when people think she isn't bundled enough. We went out to Lowe's on Friday, and it wasn't THAT cold, like 45-50, so I had her in a fleece coverall, with tights and long sleeved onesie underneath, also with a hat, and I brought a blanket into the store, and people were acting like she was out in the Artic snow naked. FFS, shut up, judgey people! lol
That's absurd. It's not like there is a blizzard outside. Snowflakes don't carry disease. I'm sorry they said that to you! Also, if I ever witness my child not holding the door for someone behind them, I will die. Nothing surprises me anymore. There have been times when I have been out with the stroller and a stream of people actually let ME ( with stroller) hold the door for them and then don't even say thank you.
I was walking with a friend and her 2 year old this past fall. He wasn't wearing his jacket. We were at a crosswalk with an obese woman in a motorized wheelchair. She was smoking away on a cigarette. Since she was in the chair, her face was just about even with his. She would not shut up about Max not having a coat on (it was in the stroller, just not on) and how unhealthy it was, blah blah blah. I finally said, " Having you blow your cigarette smoke in his direction is much worse for him than not wearing his coat."

This happened to me a few weeks ago. Leaving Target at the Atlantic Terminal, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. People there will literally run you over, baby or no baby.

People to mind their own damn business. I understand that we all see things that we may side eye but don't be rude and slam doors and stuff on people. In the words of DJ Tanner,"how rude!"
I lost my shit on a man and his two teenaged sons who opened a convenience store door just a tiny bit to let themselves in and then let it slam in my very pregnant face grazing my ginormous belly on the way. I went in and told the man there was ZERO excuse for what just happened and that he was a shitty father for being that kind of example to his sons who also should know better at their age...then I walked out to applause from store patrons/employees.
