It's open again. This is a department of three people and one of the supervising positions is open as well. I got an email notice from the HR lady. I emailed her back and asked if I should apply for it, or if they had specific concerns about me. She just responded that if I'm still interested she would encourage me to apply. I still think it's a good fit for me and I really want to live in that area. WWYD?
I just worry that the position is open again after only a couple of weeks. But, your right. What will it hurt.
Is it a growth position or a replacement? If a replacement position, how long was the last person in the role? (Not the most recent given that it may have been a very short time, but the person before that). If it's a position that is posted several times a year, I'd be concerned, if this is the first time it's being re-posted in a short time, it could be for a number of reasons that don't raise red flags.

It's a growth position. The previous person would have been the first one in the position, if they even started the job.
I must have been a pretty crappy interviewee, because I think I was second or third choice on 3 of my first 4 jobs. I know this bc people later told me how I really surprised them once I was on the job. Anyway, its not like you mentioned it specifically, but just want to head off any reservations about not being the first choice (if my suspicion on what happened is correct). Don't let that worry you.
