Thanks guys. It is soooo hard not to cry with him. He sometimes needs changed every 5 minutes and he just cries and cries. His whole body just shakes. Sometimes it sucks being a mom and having to be the "bad guy".
dude... im sorry but dont listen to the peeps on the phone and just bring him in. trust your gut. that poor little guy!!!
We just dealt with 10 days of constant diarrhea and DDs bum looked just like that. They didn't want to do a stool culture until it had been 2+ weeks of it. I'm sure it's extremely difficult, but are you trying to give him naked time to dry it out a bit? Our pedi called in an Rx cream, but ins didn't cover and it was $350, so we obviously didn't get it. Honestly what worked was naked time and cornstarch. We used A&D ointment or plain Vaseline overnight. Good luck! Poor Linus and poor mommy!!
wtf is w these lazy pedis? ours did a stool culture rt away when max had diarrhea for a few days. jeez, its not hard...
In taking him in tomorrow. I didn't have a car today. :/ I really do like the pedi. Over the weekend she said she would gladly see him tues or he could see someone else Monday (she was off), but said that living so far away she wasn't really sure it would be worth our time basically when she said there wasn't much else to do. She said she could check his stool, but even then odds are that they wouldn't do things differently for most anything they found. She said with a bacterial intesinal infection that generally they can fight it off on their own and that its better sometimes than giving abx, which can jack their stomachs up even more. She said as far as his butt, even the worst of open rashes rarely get infected with how much they're cleaned during diarrhea.
So... I really know I'm going to drive 40 minutes there to have her look at it and say "oh yeah that looks painful. Keep doing what you're doing" and send us on our way. Our car isn't big enough to change him in so we're probably got to have to go in somewhere to have a bloodcurdling diaper change. He threw up after dinner though. He ate yogurt. It seems today like he's fine with just little teeny snacks but as soon as anything substantial hits it comes up.
Fiona's running a little warm- 100 rectally which is a bit high for her and her eyes just looked pretty glassy when she woke up from her nap. So I guess It wouldn't hurt to look at her even though she's technically fine so far.
We managed some naked time in the pnp and he thought that was pretty hilarious. He got a baking soda soak and Saran Wrap/wax paper treatment. It seems like it has helped some. I think the Saran Wrap might be a bit better since he's crazy mobile. The wax paper seemed a little bulky to stay in place for a crazy toddler. I just tried two strips of Saran Wrap on each cheek and they stuck really well but shifted. I think if I can manage to cut the hole out I would b e better. Anyhow, fingers crossed he magically doesn't poop tonight.
