This month I had an *almost* positive OPK on 1/16 and then positive tests on 1/17 and 1/18. I thought you were supposed to ovulate 12-36 hours after your first OPK, but FF is showing me they predicted I ovulated on 1/20 or later. I don't understand why they predicted ovulation beginning 3 days later after my first positive OPK. I don't temp but I want to try to give it another go next month.
Also, I've noticed for a couple months that I get positive OPKs on CD 22 and 23 and have 34 day cycles. Today is CD 34, so I count tomorrow as the day of my missed period, right? Confused about that because if I ovulate when I think I do, my period always comes 11ish days after O. I know that sometimes that is too early to test, so do I wait a few more days to test to be sure?
Sorry, I know these are beginner questions. Google has such conflicting info!!

I think 12 DPO is recommended for PT - even better if you missed AF. Have you been charting for a while?
I wouldn't mark the almost positive OPK - it's gotta be solid to count. Are you recording CM? I'm wondering why FF would make that prediction w/o temperatures. Does it align w/previous months of data?

Check the Welcome to GP post (sticky) to see a chart of chances of an accurate HPT result as various DPO. Most women ovulate 12-48 hrs after their LH-peak, if you still had an LH peak that registered as positive on CD18, it's entirely possible that you O'd on CD20, as that's firm within the 12-48 hours after peak margin. Did you POAS on CD19 too? You might actually have a really long peak, who knows.
And as you know, there's no surefire way to know if you indeed did O (and what day) unless you temp and/or have charted for a really long time so you know exactly what day your period should start.
Testing with a decent amount of accuracy is recommended on or after 14DPO. Sure, there are tons of ladies on here who test before that and have gotten BFPs before 14DPO, but there are a lot of examples where that wasn't the case as well. Also, in general the ones who test earlier and get results, are the ladies who really do know their cycles.
Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear enough. Today is 11 DPO for me. I guess I was confused because the hpts all say they are most accurate "after a missed period." Well, according to my cycle I've missed my period, but I guess they probably calculate things based on an average woman's longer LP.
I had EWCM a few days before my positive test up until the last day of my positive test. I did test on 1/19, but it was with a brand that doesn't work well for me (I ran out of my favorite kind), and it was negative.
I didn't count the almost positive result. I thought it was 12-36 (well, now I know up to 48) hours from your first positive.
I'm going to wait until the weekend to test. MH was away during most of my fertile days, so we only had sex on 1/18. We will see!

I think the hpts are defining missing your period as in it didn't show up at all not just one or two days late, but you are 5 days past when it is supposed to occur and there is no sign. Being a couple days late isn't missing your period.
I do hope it's a good sign and it would be very lucky if you caught it with the one BD!
