Came home from work last night and had a fever. Vegged on the couch all night, then couldn't sleep last night with fever chills, even after taking medicine. I called out today, which I feel guilty about since this is my third week at my new job and my boss just came back from Asia yesterday. But, I feel like crap and I just really couldn't go in today.
Sigh, why do I always feel guilty about taking sick days? I think I still have a fever but our thermometer is broken so I'm not sure.

Don't feel guilty! They don't want you there sick. My friends are all avoiding coworkers from fear of catching the plague.
Oh another side story. So 2 of our best friends work in labs at Novartis. Where they manufacture the flu vaccine. They have coworkers that will not get the flu shot. Their reasoning being they've never gotten it and never got the flu. My friends want to kill these coworkers since they're only healthy because Novartis offers free flu shots to all employees and employees' family members.
Thanks guys! I hope he doesn't care. I just don't want to make a bad impression so,early. But I also don't want to get everyone else sick or fall asleep on my desk.
The new job is going pretty well! There is a ton to learn and a TON of work coming up. They are opening a new manufacturing center this summer and it is our job to get it up and running and qualified. It is going to be a ton of work, but it is exciting too. Changing jobs as definitely the right move for me, although I do miss my easy job a little. Less time to GBCN at the new job! I'm also working a lot more hours and they said probably no vacation for the next 6 months (which why I also feel bad calling out today). I really like my new boss though, so that is good. Overall, I know I made the right decision.

People are so dumb. I know so many people who say the same thing and I just hope they get the flu. I know, I'm mean, but it is really bad this year and if more people got the shot, it would minimize the spread. I think at my old job I was the only one who get the flu shot out of 13 employees.

I hope you feel better soon, noodleoo!
As far as flu shots go, I have lost count of the number of times I have been vaccinated. They were required when I was in the military and I now have to get them as a nursing student/nurse. I have also been vaccinated against anthrax, small pox, and an assortment of other ailments. It's a little ridiculous.

I was in the "never had the flu, don't need the shot" camp, until I got the flu, which became pneumonia. I'd never been so sick in my whole life. I've gotten it every year since, with success until THIS year, when everyone seems to have gotten it even if they had the shot. Strangely, I live with my bf, and despite not having the shot he didn't catch it from me. Lucky bastard.
Hope you feel better soon Noodle! Don't feel bad about calling in, it drives me nuts when my coworkers come in sick, I don't want to catch what they have.
Ditto, fuddy duddy, having worked in health care for the last 8 years I've always gotten flu shots. Where I work now, they are required.
