I finished school in December. Since I'm a teacher, chances are pretty high I'm going to have a few months of freedom before I find a full time job. I'd love to make the most of it, but it's been so long since I had time that wasn't obligated to a million other things, I've run out of things to do. So far I have:
Taken a day trip to Ikea
Gone to the Museum of Science
Seen a couple movies by myself (which was quite fun, I'd highly recommend it!)
Obsessively cleaned/organized my house (still a ways to go on this)
I don't want to travel, since I do have things planned intermittently and need to be around in case I get any calls to substitute. I am up for a drive to do something fun, but will likely be alone as most of my friends will be at work during the day.
Ok, fire away! What would you do with (seemingly) unlimited free days?
Take yoga. A lot Go to my Wed and Fri sit n knit classes Finish all the home improvement projects I haven't gotten to (like my 2/3 painted kitchen) Cook. A lot Find a Meetup group to take advantage of a way to meet new people
Oh, and if you're in my area (I'm near Ikea) on M/W/F mornings and want a buddy to something with, I'm your gal (as long as I'm not freelancing, grrr)

I wish I was in your area! I'd eat breakfast at Ikea every day, lol.
I was thinking of starting yoga. I just had surgery but am cleared to return to the gym next week-ish. Is it hard to begin? I take a lot of other fitness classes but for some reason, yoga has always scared me!
Take a class (cake decorating, sewing, exercise, etc.).
Volunteer somewhere.
Read books.
Do my homework?
Congratulations on finishing school and good luck with the job search!
What kinda homework? I used to help a friend with her nursing school stuff, but mostly the writing.
I wonder if there are any cake decorating classes in our area that aren't the AC Moore ones, will have to look into that. Thanks!
Mostly care plans and medication sheets. It's nothing I need help with from a comprehension standpoint; it's just incredibly time consuming. You are a good friend for helping her out!
If you want to take a cake decorating class during a school break, I would be happy to go with you. (Hey, maybe that could be another GTG idea...!) I found a bunch of Wilton classes in the area, if you are interested in those. You can search based on your zip code here: www.wilton.com/classes/local_classes.cfm

My impression from watching friends go through nursing school is that, while you are learning a ton, it's mostly the time suck that is the hardest part. From what I see, the results are worth it!

The time commitment really is the worst part. I will be spending 50 hours at work and school this week, not counting study time. It's just insane. I think (hope) it will pay off someday!

I don't think it's hard to begin. IMO the key is to chat with the instructor beforehand, tell them you're new, and that you just got cleared to return to the gym. That way they can let you know throughout the practice if there are modifications for you to try. Even my instructor at the Y always asks who the newbies are, and reminds them not to push themselves right out of the gate.
