So, I want to see if I'm just crazy.. One of the places I teach aerobics at is having an open house this weekend hoping to bring in NEW students. Our normal class is an hour. 30-35 minutes of cardio followed by strength training. Well.. They owner emailed what she wanted the set list to look like for this weekend and it ends up being almost 2 hrs of working out. An hr of high impact aerobics and 45 minutes of strength.
I suggested they were stupid and that would intimate a new student and they would never come back Andplusalso it isn't an accurate depiction of a class. She also thinks no one will notice the time because they will be having so much fun
My question is would you want to do almost 2 hrs of aerobics if it was your first class? Would you notice how long it was? Would you come back?

I think it's too long. I'm terribly out of shape and would feel really overwhelmed. I always assume most classes are 50-55 minutes, unless otherwise stated.

Honestly, I'm in good shape and I wanted to cry when I saw the set list and I'm teaching the songs at the top of the aerobic curve.

An hour of high impact? F to the fuck shit no. Especially if it's followed by 45 minutes of strength. It will kill a new student who's out of shape (like me). They will end up sore and miserable.
Yeah, I wouldn't come back. I would think that all classes were that long, and I'd look for something shorter.
Can't you just take that 2 hour block and make it 2 separate classes?
One would think... It normally is 2 classes. The lady is dumb. The average person that comes in at the beginning of the year will be out of shape and over weight and they are just trying to work on their New Years resolution. Mh laughed when I told him the plan.. He said that is like running a mini marathon but not knowing until you got there..

That is so stupid. That would intimidate anyone. That's more like boot camp. People will want to leave halfway through and then they'll be embarrassed that they left, so they definitely won't come back. Terrible idea.

I guess I'm the minority here, but my zumba teachers do two hour classes all the time. They use pretty much any holiday as an excuse for a "zumba party" and you can bring a friend for free. I love it! If you do it, I would just be open with people that they can leave whenever they want and to make sure and stretch.

I'm not comfortable with people leaving in the middle because the way we go on the aerobic curve if you leave in the middle it could be dangerous. Your heart rate would be way to high and it just could lead to issues.
I just found out my insurance wouldn't cover a set like that either if there was an injury.. I told her I was out.
